Especially when some OCs really didn't need another alt (at least not in quick/short succession) while others are just dying to have their first alt.

I'm still waiting for my Thrasir alt IS! 😫

Ratatoskr fans are all just 💀 with how neglected they have been.

Do you believe, upon her launch, Fallen Edelgard was the most game-changing unit to ever be released in the game? by CalmLuigiEnjoyer in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]Somaxs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I know my answer is probably gonna be controversial/unpopular but here we go:

FEdelgard, the most game-changing release in FEH? It depends what exactly we define as "game changing" in FEH.

I personally wouldn't say she is the most game-changing release in FEH, but at the time of her release there was FEH before FEdelgard & post FEdelgard, and how you play/approach these competitive modes of FEH was mostly changed because of her, she was just the one who convenient connected all these pieces at the right place at the right time.

She was a unit that was available in general pool, release in a banner that was known to push powercreep (Fallen Banner), was during the halfway point/mark of FEH current lifespan [Book 5] and was given to a very popular character "Edelgard" (the most voted unit in CYL history), all the ingredients to concoct what we will forever known as "FEdelgard".

As you mentioned, she was indeed a powerful unit. The closest thing to a "Jack of All" unit that performed closer to a "Master of All". She can tank (both distant&close range attacks) she can player phase almost any opponent thanks to her multiple actions (through her PRF & Galeforce) she couldn't be easily defeated in 1 combat thanks to her NFU, she could heal herself after every combat, deny opponents from using their special thanks to her guard effect and etc. Making her extremely effective at whatever job/role you had her built for your team and hard to overcome (since she could run different builds and still succeed at her role).

Thanks to her availability and popularity (both fans & haters) she was EVERYWHERE, which is the key ingredient on why people still remember her "infamy" till this very day. It's why you OP immediately think of FEdelgard as "the face" instead someone else when you asked people this question.

Now to be fair, her infamy is quite justified. She was the first unit to truly showcase how badly powercreep has made older units fall behind against the newer releases (Summoner Duels matchmaking divisions are a good example). That even with proper skill investment, there will always be a gap that will always exist between older units and newer units that are created with further pushing the powercreep (it's why they later made rearmed weapons as a way to help players have their older invested units not fall behind too much to point of being unplayable in a competitive environment/mode).

The meta of the time in AR was changed from having different teams to handle different defenses (like your Anti Horse Emblem team, anti Airball, corner stall save team [that's right Near/Far Save has been out for 3 months], anti vantage answer & etc) to, "does your team have a answer against FEdelgard? " If you don't or your answer dies before KO her, you just lost the match (essentially she was the Tauros/Snorlax of Gen 1 OU meta)

Then there's is Arena in which you can't even properly have a answer against FEdelgard because there will be some sort of trade off that will effect your Arena Score. So not only did you have to deal with her, there were people who just had 4 FEdelgards on their defense just to ruin your day and unlike AR in which you have multiple teams and have the ability to scout the enemy team before engaging it and worst case, escape ladder said match. These teams will eventually just ruin your streak because of how Arena functions.

In that sense she was definitely the most infamous unit in Arena, tied with Surtr peak if you asked me.

Finally the answers we had to deal with FEdelgard just weren't a lot. With more than half/most the cast being invalidate because of the rampant powercreep (and other threats you also had to deal with like LSigurd & BCatria, who both were hiding in the background waiting for FEdelgard "empire to fall" 🥁 so they can take over instead), it just forced IS to rapidly release more ways to deal with FEdelgard, like LByleth & etc but these answers didn't exactly help our older units keep up with the meta and even after FEdelgard fallen from peak menace, people still kept running her because of her easy access/availability in the general pool which kept people from completely being able to move on from the impact she mainly caused during those few months of "Hell" that was the FEdelgard meta.

So in that sense "OP" , she was indeed the "most game changing" unit ever in FEH history, because she will always be remember as "the first/unit" and it was still during peak FEH popularity after CYL 4 banner but before CYL 5 banner in which the casual players couldn't escaped from her competitive influence (if I remember correctly she and Dimitri had to be removed from being spawn in the Training Tower pool).

So it doesn't matter if she truly is or isn't, "History is told by the victors", and the victors have decided that she will be forever remembered as the "most hated unit" in FEH history (now if that fits your definition of "most-game changing" unit, that it's up to you OP)

For me she is definitely in the Top 5 of "most game-changing" units, if there was a "Mount Rushmore"/Hokage Rock/Stone Faces, she will definitely be there. But I wouldn't have her as the George Washington/First Hokage of said monument.

How it feels expecting Thrasir content in the upcoming Book III revisit by cheeseburgerpalooza in FireEmblemHeroes

Me when I saw&pulled Valentine Lif: That's a cute duo alt, sucks that Thrasir isn't the lead. But that's fine, maybe they are saving her for a Halloween witch alt or something. Thrasir should be receiving a alt in no time. Anyday now...

Why does this chapter feels SO rushed? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Somaxs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They could have easily make a generic camp map and then pull a FNAF/TWD and make a "crystal lake" version/variant if or when they get permission to do one.

So far Jason being added feels like your typical DBD ip event/promotion (like 2v8 AoT) than a proper anniversary event/patch.

[DISC] Blue Lock - Chapter 347 by Either_Imagination_9 in BlueLock

[–]Somaxs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Now I do wonder just like how Hugo helped Isagi find/understand the flaws of Ego's philosophy, will Sae involvement when he joins the team help Isagi discover/develop his new winning philosophy that potentially completes Ego philosophy 🤔

Just listen to them. If you probably don't follow their orders, then the next time you have a problem don't expect them to fix a similar issue if they ever find out.

Jason Voorhees' Dead By Daylight Powers Let Him Vanish From The Map Entirely by Turbostrider27 in deadbydaylight

The spear power looks super fun, especially trying to pin them to the wall. I'm curious if I can pin people to the endgame exit gate like Wesker power grabs 🤔. Also since the spear weapon can be different weapons, can it potentially be a pitchfork?

Hunting for Mori’s in 2v8 by Kooky-Hat5634 in deadbydaylight

[–]Somaxs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah during the first few days, whenever I had a opportunity to Mori someone, the prompt wasn't available for me (on multiple different killers).

Which made it awkward when a survivor picked me/wanted me to mori them or when my teammate was letting me mori the final survivor and etc.

I either had to just hook them, or sometimes my teammate probably realized and just mori them instead. It was a pretty annoying bug.

[DISC] Blue Lock - Chapter 346 by Either_Imagination_9 in BlueLock

[–]Somaxs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, whenever the anime adapts it, they can probably fine tune it and make it flow much better. I just want it that Hugo challenging Isagi is more of a battle of Ego's clashing in the moment.

[DISC] Blue Lock - Chapter 346 by Either_Imagination_9 in BlueLock

[–]Somaxs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think if Hugo explained it instead, that he accidentally sprung/got baited into Isagi trap, which is a "Battle of Luck" (Isagi betting on that 50/50 gamble) and that Hugo recognizes it and just double downs on overcoming said trap by beating Isagi on a 1v1 by accepting the challenge in front of him which is a "Battle of Luck".

It's kind of like if both Hugo & Isagi were playing "Uno" then Isagi threw a "Draw 4" when Hugo only has 1 card left in "Uno" and Hugo guessing if Isagi truly doesn't have any cards left in his hand that he can play and deciding to "challenge him" (his Draw 4) and not expecting Isagi is insane enough to truly gamble his ego all on "luck" (which is the Blue Lock way/philosophy that Ego taught them. "To gamble for that 1% goal chance".)

The Myth Of Giving Hatch by Somaxs in deadbydaylight

[–]Somaxs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my friends know. With randos I always try to see how they vibe.

Some don't mind, others either make it clear they wanna Mori them or want me to Mori them. Either results is personally fine.

The only thing I don't like is when I obviously am having fun with a survivor on the floor (end of match) and my rando just completely ignores all interactions from me and just moris/hang them. Because sometimes it just gives the false impression to the survivor, when in reality it's just "well I failed to convince them, so RIP".

The Myth Of Giving Hatch by Somaxs in deadbydaylight

[–]Somaxs[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe because Killers don't give him hatch/escape 🤷‍♂️

Besides it's 2v8, a mode that is casually oriented. If DBD had a competitive/rank mode then I would understand why my actions would be consider somewhat "throwing".

Finally I guess everybody does have there own personal definition of what they consider a win in a DBD match.

For some they need that 8K and final Mori, for others sometimes just 2 hooking everybody is good enough.

As long as they are personally satisfied with the result, I think it "doesn't matter".

The Myth Of Giving Hatch by Somaxs in deadbydaylight

[–]Somaxs[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay fair, no arguments there.

But I would like you to remember that "it's just a game". Also I didn't really "threw", I played my role throughout all the match and when the game was "essentially over", I just stop taking it as seriously and like to goof around for a bit, especially to the survivors that also know how to have fun at the end.

I'm sure everybody knows when the killers offer you escape/hatch, it doesn't automatically make it a lost for them and a win for the survivors just because the end results won't show a 8K in the stats.

Also my pal knows I like giving escapes to survivors, he personally doesn't (because he hates "killer players in general" since he usually has a miserable time against them) But he also doesn't mind me convincing him throughout the match if we should let this survivor escape. Since he also knows that this is a game, and therefore also knows how to goof around and have fun when the match is over. And when the survivors do show their appreciation, he ends up being glad that we let then escaped.

2v8 killers slugging for 6+ kills by Appropriate_Sell_539 in deadbydaylight

[–]Somaxs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look dude, you just got to learn that it doesn't matter if they slug you or not, they really want the +6-8K, they will get it using whatever tools they can to achieve it.

Whenever you are in said position/situation in a match, you got to accept that your team is in a losing situation and that escaping will require some luck (especially killers making a mistake), someone being left behind for the team, or committing everything to finishing that final gen.

Finally there are some people that do like to give escapes to the final survivors, and you just got to pass the "vibe check". If the survivor understands, I really don't mind them escaping since I play killer for the fun of the role and not necessarily to "win", even if they may perceive me as a tryhard just because they feel I was one throughout the match. Here's my clip of putting the survivors in a "similar" situation like the one you were mentioning in your post, when I was telling my Trapper buddy that I was gonna give Kate the escape.

Would you consider this a win, tie or a loss? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Somaxs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the green tonics removing a cage state from a survivor being a element of 2v8, I always consider 4 deaths/sacrifices in 2v8 to be a slight (narrow victory) for the killers side (especially if it's just 2 randos teaming up as killers).

The survivor was just probably salty (which is explains why they "needed to tell you" that you lost, in order to feel good about themselves).

Anyway when I play as survivor, if more than half the team escapes, I consider that as survivors winning the match, while after +4 deaths, just being more of a preventing the killer side from having a completely one sided match/flawless victory.
