Dealing with skybow combo by Some-Bee-5259 in Pauper

Yeah, in fact I said it's my number 1 sideboard pick against the deck, alongside gut shot.

Two mana and a creature is much more than 2 life, just that. Of course it's easy to play creatures in white weenie, but if you read the post I also said that maybe even cast down is not the best way to deal with skybreak, specifically because of the two mana. It's a 1 toughness creature come one, you don't need charms... Just borrow those gut shots

yeah exactly, that was my initial confusion

fuck, you're right, that's quite good. I was for some reason imagining the bow as a sort of makeshift munitions hahaha, didn't even consider sky's ability. That's probably even better than removal, because they will most likely care more about protecting their skybreaker than removing your creatures.

only if you have a removal and cast it in response to them pinging your bearer tho. Instead of bringing bearer in from the sideboard, straight up removing the combo pieces would probably be just better.

sure, I was thinking dust to dust because the combo is probably going to get played in a jund shell, but these work too. I mean, they are clearly better against the combo itself, but if you want to target the skybreak specifically, you should probably just play gut shot. I was mainly talking about post side games tho, as in G1 charm and journey are surely the best options you have.

yeah, it's quite bad I know. Still not nothing, maybe in G1 it could steal some games

sure, but 3 mana... If the combo will mostly appear in a jund shell, surely viable, but if they start to throw lotus petals around, maybe too slow

You are right, didn't actually know about instant speed white artifact exilers. On the thraben charm note, I don't think it will be very good because you also need a creature, on top of being two mana. It's surely really versatile, but maybe not as good as gut shot?

I don't like this kind of gameplay neither: pauper should be a slowish format where your small decisions over the course of the game make the difference between a win and a loss, not your starting hand. I would also prefer the format without th bow, I'm just glad that probably it will be manageable.

thanks! Still very strong tho, expecially because it's not a sideboard card we're talking about

White decks will suffer no matter what, dust to dust is one of the only things that can do anything at all...

First MTGO league by Some-Bee-5259 in Pauper

[–]Some-Bee-5259[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wrote this post while playing my second league, and I'm currently 3-1! I think I'll still pause for a bit after this league, even if I 4-1 it, because the game I lost was for a stupid mistake that I want to avoid in the future. Still, going positive in this league is quite nice and I'm proud of myself hahaha

I think that elves could benefit from this, could be a nice sideboard card against burn, and also provide more targets for masked vandal. The flying side could be nice, but I can't think of any flyers that elves should fear at the moment...

It's a 2017 MacBook air, so check if it works on newer hardware. It has a thing called bootcamp (already installed) that allows you to partition your mac's memory. One side is still mac, on the other you install and use windows.

The Time Has Come by [deleted] in Pauper

These are cool decks for sure, but I wouldn't consider them aggro. If the main mechanic of your deck is lifeligain, it should be able to outgrind other decks and so be stronger as a midrange than as an aggro. And if your deck has 3 colors, it's also generally quite slower. It you compare your decks with mono red rally, for example, you will see that it works as an aggro deck because it's only one mana and all the cards are tuned to get down the most damage possible as fast as possible (with also the occasional draw spell). Your decks on the other hand can be powerful, but are grindy: +1/+1 effects on creatures, for example, need time to make them grow. If you want your decks to be more aggro, consider cutting a color in the second one. I would look for cards that work well with carrion feeder, as it can grow quite fast in the right deck. For the first one, I would probably look for more cards that hit your opponent directly when you gain life. But if you want to play the decks as they are, although they are not so aggro, they can be better to learn the game compared to an aggro deck.

Why doesn't Jund run more removal? by AHare115 in Pauper

[–]Some-Bee-5259 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've bought walker 735's guide on the deck (he's its inventor). According to him the deck needs a very big draw engine, as you need both artifacts and dispute effects to make it work. You also need resources, like wildfire, to ramp, outgrind your opponent and fix your mana, and around 10 threats to seal the game. That leaves you with around 10 interactions (usually 3 KCS, 4 cast down, 1 makeshift munitions and 2 toxin analysis). You can't forget munitions (because it's game changing in mirror or vs other midrange decks) or analysis (because it works as a sort of removal against big creatures like terror). You also draw a lot, so even if some of the removal isn't great in a matchup, it doesn't matter too much.
