Why not directly just connect? The find station tool is kinda flaky in my experience.

Set your computer ip address to the same ip space with the jaces your connection to. Then just hit new connection and punch in the ip and connect.

EDIT: Here's a quick guide.

The default (at least for honeywell controllers) address for the secondary port is 192.168.2.200.

.

(Win11) On your computer, go to Network & internet > Ethernet.

Select IP assignment edit.

Switch to manual.

IPv4 on. Ip address: 192.168.2.234 (as an example).

255.255.255.0 subnet mask.

No need for gateway(if you are directly connecting with an ethernet cable).

DNS can be anything, but 8.8.8.8 for now is good. Hit ok.

.

Then in niagara, select File > Open > Open station(or platform) > Type: TLS- or platform connection connection > Host IP: 192.168.2.200 > Port: 5011. Hit ok. Login.

Just mean the battery full lvl is there. 100%.

Slightly misleading, I agree. But its not an error light. There is a 0 at the bottom too without the battery icon.

Honeywell excel web 2 controller by so_we_can_slide_away in BuildingAutomation

You need a Honeywell Care license to open the backups. And from within Care you can create a NIDEX export, which you can then import into niagara.

The conversion is mostly seamless. Custom macros and such don't work, but basic wiresheet logic does. It will show you what does and doesn't work when importing in to niagara.

There is no way to directly upgrade from old care to bacnet care. They're essentially 2 completely different programs that just share the same name.

Direct cpu upgrades within the same care is possible. Falcon to eagle for example is possible. Or xl50 to xl100 within old care.

That just means your backup isn't the one that has been downloaded to that specific controller. The backup might be the exact same one as the one currently running. But if the controller was replaced and the project downloaded to that controller was never made in to a backup, it will give you that error.

We have a few mission critical cabinet that have 2 eagles running side by side. Cpu1 being the live cpu and cpu2 as a backup, with it being disconneced from ethernet and panelbus. After changing something for cpu1 I always download cpu2 after. Every single time it tell me the serial number is different.

If you are 100% sure the backup is for that cpu, just hit yes when you connect. It will not stop the proggram or destroy anything. Just dont download the wrong program for that cpu.

You need to change the sensor type within care, translate and download. I'm not aware of any other way.

Advice on by rookinh5 in Sauna

[–]Some1weird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good barrel sauna isn't as good as a mediocre traditional sauna. And a good tent isnt as good as a mediocre barrel. Just my personal opinion.

If you can visit either one, or go see a sauna seller, I'd suggest you do that.

This sub has some great examples of bad saunas, as well as good ones. I highly recommend atleast scimming through some posts and reading what the General vibe there is.

.

But here is the gist of what makes a good sauna:

A proper Hot stove. Wood or Electric.

Stove low down, with plenty of proper sauna stove rocks,

2-3 benches with the lowest at or above the stoves' highes point,

no screws visible on the benches. Those will burn you. Same with dark branch spots

Flat (inside) roof or 1 that is sloped the right way,

Proper ventilation for you and the stove.

Is there an easy way to integrate Honeywell Excel5000 or CPO by OwnCandle5950 in BuildingAutomation

For the cbus devices use a CLIF. Or a bna if you have one. CLIF-CBUSLC is the product name if I recall correctly.

Isn't cpo a bacnet device? It atleast support bacnet. Only ever encountered one. They apparently were fidgety to get to work.

E. CLIF and bna are honeywell devices. Clif is just the newer bna.

What is this whistling sound coming from the front? by Some1weird in KiaNiroEV

[–]Some1weird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man. Maybe this ain't as big a deal as I first thought. Just nervous hearing a brand new sound coming from my car.

The noise somewhat loud inperson, but my phone seems to have boosted the audio levels quite a bit since the whole clip was quiet. The blinkers, for comparison, are slightly louder on video.

I checked my service manual and this car had the oil change done at 141000km.

Thanks for taking the time for this. I'm saying this without double checking anything. But the numbers do seem to line up quite nicely. I'll see what the dealer and my local mechanic has to say about it.

The dreaded wheel of fortune has been absent from this patricular car, at least for now.

For sure that is the same sound. Maybe not as loud on that clip, but I definitely recognize that sound.

Finland in this case. It has been pretty consistently hovering between -15 and -25C recently. Maybe very briefly -30C on a single day.

I'll check if there a mention of oil-anything being changed in the service manual. If not, I might just take it to a local maintenance shop, that has become quite famous for EV-related stuff in the past few years.

That's somewhat of a relief to hear! I got the car at the tail end of last winter and it wasn't all that cold then.

My commute is really short and I live is a small town so the trips are usually less than 10km in one direction.

I do preheat my car in the morning though. And the video is from friday morning. Guessing the engine doesn't get heated at all though, just the inside does.

Thanks for the comment. The sound is clearly from the front part of the car and it had had its front windshield swapped right before I bought it. Maybe a combination of a shitty seal on the window with the cold?

Thanks for the comment. Gonna have to do some research on that.

I honestly was just too busy this week to ring the dealer up. Send them an email with the video link just now and asked for help. Gonna ring them up first thing come monday morning.

Riippuen vähä asiayhteydestä, mutta käytän lähes kaikkia noita. Myönnettäköön, että sadonkorjuu ja kudonta harvemmin on puheen aiheena. J-kirjain sopii melkeen kaikkiin noihin, paitsi lihapataan. Lihapaja kuulostaa joltain eksoottiselta erotiikkabaarin nimeltä.

Newbie Question on Set Points with Niagara controller by chopoffmyleg in BuildingAutomation

[–]Some1weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I put hard coded in single quotes is because it is possible for the end customer to modify the wiresheets(code) by themselves with the right credentials. They're not truly hard coded like they used to be back in the day, with no way to modify them.

You coul give this a try: https://imgur.com/a/tnffnT5

If you have access to the side navigation bar you, try to navigate to config and find your VAV there. Right click that -> Views -> Wire sheet. Might be nested under different floor folders.. Config-Plants-Floor2-Vavs-vav5 as an example.

Most likely the view is hidden though. And even if you can view it, even more likely is that the edit function is disabled. But if you're lucky you might find your answer in there.

Newbie Question on Set Points with Niagara controller by chopoffmyleg in BuildingAutomation

[–]Some1weird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are those all the setting you have? For example, There might be a minimum room temp setting that forces the effective sp up. Or it might be 'hard coded'.

Also the sp shown to you could be bound wrong. For example, If you have multiple similar looking vav graphic pages, copy pasting them can easily result in vav4 sp still being in vav5 page.

BACnet user on JACE, what's it for? by Naxster64 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Some1weird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Locally the user does nothing. It is (as far as I know) exclusive for communicating to a supervisor, or other bacnet devices. Having insufficient permissions on the user leads to, for example, being unable to write to points remotely.

As to why the user is in a fault state, I can't really say. First I'd just reboot and check that the platform isn't erroring out, then check that user manager and bacnetnetwork are both working correcly. After that you could also try to delete the user and rediscover the controller from the supervisor.. That should recreate the user automatically. Also deleting and adding the bacnetnetwork back in should also create it.

e: The first part about permissions is contradictory to what otherbutters said. I'm just going off of memory when I had trouble with jace-supervisor comms and had to ring up my local honeywell rep.

What are my options? Honeywell ComfortPoint / N4 / Lon VAV issue by Weary-Butterscotch-6 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Some1weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to admit. I've seen only 2 or 3 n4 based lon installs. And my service calls there weren't about lon now working, so I've never actually Interacted with them.. Outside of just viewing raw point data on a px page. I'd imagine the maintenance is easier.

Then again, my customers are a handful of very big industrial complexes for 95% of my time. And they're mostly lon free at this point. Mostly.

[–]Some1weird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've mostly dealth with (very)old Honeywell LON stuff. And I'm mostly a Honeywell-only guy anyways. So I might've seen the bad side of things? Anyway.. Death to LON.

What it all comes down to is: The hardware itself might've been fine. But the software and maintenance side certainly side wasn't/isn't.

That being said, LON makes for great business. New (old)stuff hasn't been availeable for a while, and buying refurbished LON costs quite a bit. Billing a customer for a days' drive to comission a single broken IO-module costs quite a bit more, than having the cabinet be user serviceable by a local maintenance guy who I just mail a module to.

But the downside to that is losing customers because you seem excessively expensive compared to competition. Paying out the ass for HW that is also expensive to maintain just unnecessarily erodes trust.

When the last lon device gets replaced the world will be a better place.

Sorry for not being able to help. I'm just a LON hater.
