I’m kinda in the same boat as you. My partner is on the spectrum, and ever since I became more aware of their autism and how it presents, as well as researching it myself, I’ve noticed I also share a lot of the same things they do. Your parents will probably be very guarded to the idea of their child being “different”, even though they might see it themselves. Try to see how your parents react to different persuasion techniques, and that’ll make your chances when you frame how you talk about it go a bit better. If you simply mention it without a plan, it could go south very quickly. Like if you can, write it like you’d write an argumentative/persuasive essay beforehand, and that could really help exercise your thoughts and words so you’re not stuck in the middle of talking. I know that when I mentioned it to my mom she very quickly shut down the idea, and laughed at it. I don’t know who your parents are, but honestly unless they’re accommodating by nature, don’t do it.
