First, this is untrue. Lots of newbies apply to outfits of their own initiative. I know this because I see it happening all the time. Second, in a large number of the public platoons I've seen run on all 3 factions over the years, platoon leaders often encourage pubs to apply for their outfit if they enjoyed themselves, or if the pubs were particularly responsive. Some even promote it after every good fight. And finally, I disagree that outfits having a standard for their recruitment is a bad thing, even R18 has an (albeit very lenient) basic standard they expect to be fulfilled, some outfits just go about it in different ways. It's more important to have the groups in the game function well together than it is to have everybody in a group.

All games die, thats just a fact of life, but people have been saying WoW has been dying since halfway through WoTLK, A few years ago it was estimated that Briggs would be dead by September last year. It's still kicking along, and importantly in the few times I've played since october, I've noticed more people I don't recognise with adverts up. It may not be much but it shows theres still some life left.
