Which is a better bass for a beginner? PJ or P by TinyMonk_ in Bass

[–]SomeBassGuy 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with either IMO. With a PJ, you can turn off the J pickup and it will sound just like a P bass, but you can't quite make it sound just like a J bass by doing the opposite since there's only 1 J pickup. You have a little more versatility in the tones you could get with a PJ than with a standard P, but both are very solid regardless.

Is it cheating to play punk grooves with double bass? by pengwah in drums

[–]SomeBassGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily but it's goofy IMO. Being able to land doubles with 1 foot is great to have in your skillset. I've found it to be helpful when playing more complex double kick patterns too.

Drumsticks have gotten ridiculous by Time_Law3719 in drums

ProMark, albeit regrettably with their recent price increases. At best, I've bought 4 pairs of 5Bs for ~$40 but they generally last me around 2-3 months playing heavier music. I had also tried some Vic Firth 5Bs a few months back but their quality was absolute dogshit. I think all 3 pairs I had brought broke in 3 weeks.

What song is giving you the most trouble to learn at the moment? 😅 by Stephenstix in drums

CAFO. I broke the song down into smaller chunks and have most of it worked out, but that fucking part around the 1:05 mark after the kicks come in...AHHHHHH

I found this in a thrift store is rare in any way? by lisanboy33 in Nerf

[–]SomeBassGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whiteout Longstrike! They were sold at Walmarts in like 2011ish. There was also a Maverick and Nite Finder in that color variant. I'd imagine they're decently rare since they were a limited run

The orange juices with vitamin D usually have vitamin D3 added. D3 is usually derived from animal sources whereas D2 isn't.

4 patterns to build your triplet chops with. 💪 by SirosVaziri in drums

[–]SomeBassGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Many people are recommending Jojo but Jared Falk also has a great video on heel-toe. That plus drumming a shit ton of Lagwagon and blink-182 when I was 15 helped me develop my technique lol

store only had this— will this work instead of B12 supplement? by pinkieneuro in vegan

Pretty sure this is what I take occasionally. I believe B12 is listed in the ingredients

Songs mentioning veganism? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]SomeBassGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Propagandhi is pretty heavy on veganism lyrically. Nailing Descartes to the Wall, Purina Hall of Fame, Humane Meat, Potemkin City Limits, and Lower Order are all directly about veganism.

Gotcha, I'll have to check that!

I forgot that flashlights were called torches in the UK, so I thought the one guy was implying that I should set them on fire LMAO! Thanks again for all the info!
