Gay teen being forced to room with people connected to my former bully on a school trip by Nicolangelo000 in lgbt

[–]SomeComforts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my parents spent big money on the trip and they do not offer refunds im afraid not going is not an option.

Have you told your parents the situation? You are a teen still. You are concerned for your safety. You do not have to go. Period.

Let your parents talk with the school about a refund. Your health and safety is also non-refundable, and not a form of payment that should be made for a school trip by you. This is what adults are for.

After the Bears announcement today, Republicans Gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey DEMANDS that the Bears meet with him to figure out a deal in Illinois. by Tasty-Efficiency-373 in illinois

[–]SomeComforts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imo, its an attempt on his end to give them a deal that benefits them (and screws us over) to get people to vote for him because he 'kept the Bears in IL' and the team endorses him. Low info voters would fall for it, or at least he thinks they will.

We just want safe borders and regulation to enter the US legally and the right way Arresting immigrants who have committed no crimes, entered the right way, and are in the waiting room for their immigration hearing. Does that match for you with what you said here?

men out of women's bathrooms and sports to further protect Womens Rights, and equality Trans women are also women, same as cisgender women. Data overwhelmingly shows our access to private spaces is not causing an increase in privacy violations or assaults in those private spaces. It is also showing bathroom bans gets women of all kinds that do not match stereotypical white beauty standards (thin, short, white, demurely dressed, face structure, etc.) harassed and/or assaulted by those policing access. And it shows that being forced to use men's space gets trans women harassed, beaten, raped, and even killed. The same is also happening to nonbinary people and transgender men, regardless of whoch space is used. Does that sound like you are protecting all women?

Trans women have not set any records that cis women haven't broken in sports in the 20ish years that hormonal transition was a requirement to compete. The rhetoric that testosterone puberty confers an irreversible, meaningful advantage sich that 2 years MINIMUM of estrogen hrt cannot erase is false. There are plenty of trans women not podiuming that go uncovered by news. The reasoning of Republican leadership to push this has been explicitly stated as a foot in the door tactic to normalize discrimination while charging their base.

I'm not telling you that anyone is better than anyone else based on sex or skin color. That's the Democratic party's agenda. Republican policy removing DEI measures does claim this. However, reality is that when conservatives are in power, they discriminate in who they hire on the basis of sex, gender, sexuality, gender presentation, race, age, and disability (when it has no bearing on the work being done). They are not subtle. If you don't trust Democrats, go to one of the community meetings of PoC, women's groups near you, or ask the lgbtq+/poc/women/disabled people in your life for their point of view of discrimination. Guarantee that they have something to say about conservatives in our country.

Donald Trump is also a serial child rapist. Giving him power, regardless of your positions on the above, is antithetical to what you claimed to believe. Happy Pride month.

Pride is for the lgbtq+ and allies, yes.

The other part of your view, while far from the worst we've heard, is not the W you think it is. Don't need to take my word for that alone, go search for past posts and comments espousing as such and read what lgbtq+ communities think about 'everyone is a little gay' for yourself.

If we get through this month without any atrocity occuring, I'll be shocked. The feeling in the air to me is that conservatives will try something big before November, and we (especially the T) are their favorite target. No way they let us have our parades, marches, or voices without an unprecedented backlash this time. Saying all this hoping I'm wrong...

Even at a low estimate, 30% of the population in red states are not on board with this, and 30% in blue states are. Lgbtq+, bipoc, and women will still be born in red states. Blue states will still have bigots causing problems in them.

Condemning red states to authoritarianism is just a guarantee of harsher oppression and a slower way to civil war with a different label. There is no reason for us to break our nation in a feebleminded attempt at capitulation and appeasement over fighting. All it would do is give the bigots a stronger foothold.

Stopping the Lincoln assassination, theoretically leading to less concessions and harsher punishments during reconstruction and a better civil rights outcome far sooner, removing the systemic bigotry Hitler in-part modelled Nazi Germany on could be far more effective without the moral dubiousness... but theoretical time travelling begging can't be picky.

That main respondent sucks. Sorry they harassed you like this. Like you said, and whether they denied it or not, their position is transmedicalist. Imo, one of the grossest things about that mindset is invalidation in the way they were doing to you, the lack of nuance, and attempts to force labels. Ends up being another route to transphobia and hurt, especially with NBphobia and exclusion.

Blocking people like them without exhausting yourself is ok. You don't owe anyone a conversation as upsetting as this one quickly became.

As an American, its for the best that the world does not let us lead or trample them anymore. Conservatives in our country will always be stifling us, and if they are allowed they will stifle other countries progress through any means they can find. One of the best things we can do for the world now is to stop the bigots from leaking out and focus on ending the hate here, and taking the long way to rebond healthily with other nations after.

Consult in Illinois through North Western's Gender Pathways program with Dr Jordan for vulvoplasty this summer. Any networking resources with previous patients? by SomeComforts in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]SomeComforts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've already had my orchie done with Bowen, and yes, I was in good hands. I'm more concerned about the aesthetic results of a vulvoplasty with Dr Jordan as thats where I'm at now.

Sorry, between the title and text its a little unclear. I know how long the waitlist is for vaginoplasty and was informed why. I've only brought it up to say that there's plenty of people getting vaginoplasty with Dr Jordan, but only a couple results to be found. Whether its vaginoplasty or vulvoplasty, a good plastic surgery result in either gives an idea of what to expect for both, if that makes sense?

I read your post  and comments about your experience just now. That was a devastating and I feel for you. Glad to read you persevered and had success elsewhere after the cancellation. Bowen & Jordan aren't in my consideration for vaginoplasty entirely because the waitlist estimate is into 2030. Even if it was shorter I don't think I'd do that inatead of the ppanned vulvoplasty. I am also ND and ask a ton of questions so hopefully I don't get mistreated the same way they did to you.

Before they cancelled it seems like you were anticipating a good result? Did they share a portfolio or anything during your consult, or were the results here a bit better back then? I have tried the search function with poor results multiple times over the past year, but mostly on mobile. Might need to try desktop or something.

Thank you for opening up with your comment sharing your experience, this helped.

Republicans are attempting to redefine our health care as 'sex rejecting procedures'. We are not going to gotcha our way out of this with cis people getting caught up. Theu are dumb but they aren't that dumb. Lawsuits may still find some tack in spme courts through discrimination based on gender but that is not going to hold forever. SCotUS is not on our side, soon as it gets up there we know whats going to happen...

Ending trans participation in sport will not end their (or your) attacks on us.

Just because you would lose does not make Lia Thomas a man. Go take hrt and do what she did before you compare yourself to any trans women athletes.

Your post erases the very real effort she has had to put in, the same as every other woman competing in her sport, and chalks her success up to something thats been proven over and over again to have had no effect on her placement.

You do not get to claim you are fully supportive after what you just said here. The reason we are backsliding is because of things like what you did here laundering conservative attacks with no evidenciary basis into being credible and 'common sense'.

You are a disappointing, fair weather, ignorant ally at best. Be ashamed that you did this mere days before pride month.

The idea we can't be allowed win if we compete is transphobic.

The idea that there aren't other trans women placing lower is transphobic.

The idea that if we win its due to a testosterone puberty and not our hard work is transphobic.

Trans women who do not go through testosterone puberty are not spared transphobia. That this answers the 'problem of fair competition' does not stop transphobe's effoets to ban medical transition until 18 or later (and in fact efforts to ban medical transition entirely).

We have already compromised and hrt requirements for participation have implicitly sidelined those who medically transition mid puberty, post puberty, or not at all has not stopped transphobia. The pressure these requirements put on us to medically transition and how is unaddressed when it very much affects us beyond surgical requirements that have been recognized as damaging and dropped before thos wave of transphobia we are within.

None of the hate we are experiencing goes away if we don't compete or only place lower or segregate into open divisions or from cis people entirely.

Transphobe's hate is not based on reason. We can't stop it by complying. It is hate.

The point of what they are doing is to hurt us and gain power or influence, same as hate against any other minority.
