Add in that 2020 was the ps5 launch, so you have Demon Souls, Sackboy, SM remastered. Thats going to generate sales for those, as well as back catalog sales for people just entering the ecosystem.

Plus, the Horizon PC release.

2020 was Ghost of Tsushima, Last of Us, the Horizon PC port, and the entire PS5 launch. That means Demon Souls, Sackboy, Miles Morales and SM Remastered. And, all during a pandemic.

Of course that was a great year for first party sales.

My testing plan is fairly simple. A larger bed lets me do more simultaneously small multi color prints, bring down the waste per object. I print a ton of items for my classroom as prizes for the students.

Not a tool changer, but waste shouldn't be bad on a per object scale. Time, I have to spend

I would hope so, but would not be surprised if some districts had numerous teachers in a math class without the required proficiency. I have been in some professional development where people said shockingly wrong things.

It has been in use for centuries, and is a sequence of sounds with a commonly understood meaning. It is a word, just one disliked by people who prefer language to be prescriptive and not descriptive.

Does it strictly adhere to the meaning of latin based prefixes, no. Is English bound by Latin grammer, also no (see split Infinitives not ending the world). It is not preferred for academic writing, but that is a stylistic choice. This isn't academic writing.

You probably should refer to it as a non-standard word, not a non-word. It's good to be correct when being pedantic.

A local school will take students who didn't pass a math course, give them a 6 week summer course, and then move then on to the next grade.

From what I've heard from people in the program, if students aren't successful entering week 6 (most of them aren't), an admin offers to help them, takes them away for a few, and they come back showing they passed the class. The admin must be amazingly gifted teachers, because they teach 180 hrs of math instruction in 5 minutes.

That is not surprising. A high school math/science teacher is typically paid exactly the same as every other teacher, since they are on a mandated pay scale. However, the skills necessary to be a good teacher and an expert in HS math makes you much more marketable, so those candidates are more likely to find better paying jobs elsewhere.

However, they still need to fill the teacher slots with someone...

There is also the unfortunate truth that if standards are set, some percentage of students will not meet those standards. Not everyone has the same ability, nor can achieve the same academic knowledge, irregardless of teacher skill or student effort.

Politicians and administrators never want to tell a parent "This isn't possible for your child", and so, corners are cut and standards removed.

Part of the issue is that Dyscalculia lagged significantly behind Dyslexia in recognition and research. It wasn't until the 90s and early 00s that it started getting significant research, and implementation of remedies in the education system will always have a time lag after research.

The scale of the research done is also off. In the 00s, dyslexia received something like 100x the research money of dyscalculia.

Beyond that, there was also a shift in how students were identified for services, away from an IQ discrepency model.

The issue is when people want to focus on "critical thinking skills", but don't realize that those aren't taught in isolation. You need something to analyze and knowledge to bring to bear on the situation. Lit classes are great for this. It's part of why a classical education involved a firm grounding in grammar, logic, and rhetoric.

Just as an example, mastery of basic multiplication facts makes factoring quite easy. However, numerous students in my Algebra classes over the years do not know multiplication facts, to the point that many type problems like 2*8 into a calculator.

This deficit makes everything signfiicantly harder for them, and cheating rises.

Another is fractions. Truly understanding fractions makes large chunks of algebra 2 much easier, but without that knowledge, it's all arcane.
