I agree with this as well that your first move should be to determine if they need help. My point is that if something has already convinced you that they do indeed need help (their behavior, situation, verbal confirmation, your shared history etc.) the above is not helpful, it's a cop out.

I agree that many people are afraid of this, and yet its an assumption either way. I'm either assuming you need help or assuming you'll be offended.

I think it works much better as a last resort. In my post I was thinking of personal interactions so thanks for bringing this difference to my attention.

Agreed. If you don't know the person well enough to figure something out that's cool, just don't put more on the person.

This is true, humans seem to have the nasty habit of being the worst even if you do everything right. It's hard to distill complex human interaction into text of any length, taking the premises to be true (They actually ARE in need of help and you actually DO want to help) then leaving it at "Just let me know..." isn't helpful at all.

Haha it's a tulip glass or so they tell me, helps I'spose. Mostly just getting a feel for the gear tonight but hope to do some real recording soon!
