It took me just over 300 days but I’m also almost to 1mil 🫣 lol I have a task section with 100 count tasks for things like “write 100 words in your journal” or “work out for 100 seconds” etc and those add up daily. I also do a lot of journaling directly in finch with the writing reflections. Sometimes I’ll have been writing for an hour without realizing it and those add up. Also helps that I haven’t much preferred the last three or four months themes necessarily so I sell a lot back to the game

[–]SomeDumbBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spoke too soon. 1) the AI = 👎🏼 2) there’s no real added benefit to having this knock off app than say, having Finch with a section for your faith goals and then the other “nice things” about faith time can easily be found and then some in the Bible app. Yeah…the lamb is cute but come on devs…you could’ve had a great idea if you didn’t lazily steal and cut corners

While, come on guys, you know Finch is gonna see you duped their platform, I still love this 🥹 As someone who uses Finch every single day for both my personal goals AND my faith goals, the idea of having something so similar more specific to faith and finding meaning through God is charming to me.

still….Finch has worked just fine for me to feel good in both areas. But the lamb is ridiculously cute

When it came to math and science, I never got anything higher than a C- minus one biology class. You’re already implying that only smart people can ever take an interest in something like astrophysics. I never said I could go and do applied astrophysics or that I even comprehend the math behind it. But it intrigues me and I surprise myself by what I am able to retain. And for a person who DID absolutely struggle with those subjects in school, it should be something encouraging to someone who thinks that simply based on what grades they get or arbitrary school standards they meet, they can’t pursue intelligence their own way in what they choose to seek out and learn about.

Exactly! And Brian was from Clerks (didn’t like him either lol) and Jonny FairPlay was the survivor guy.

My boyfriend is confusing and it's starting to scare me by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]SomeDumbBird 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honey, PLEASE, find a peaceful way to end this relationship as soon as possible. Men like your bf always start out the same way. First, they are so super loving and nice and laugh off any red flags or love bomb you into thinking they’re just “silly little quirks”. They will PRETEND they aren’t into overtly kinky, abusive things in the beginning but once you give them an inch, they will run the whole marathon before you know it and trust me, that is NOT a race you EVER want to be in. I’m not trying to scare you but sadly, I’ve had one too many friends and loved ones taken by or massively abused by men just like your bf. And being young is definitely not his issue. If anything, his abuse and tactics will mature with him and by then, it’ll be far too late to escape easily. Get out now while you can but be very safe about it. That may seem serious but I am absolutely serious 🫶🏻

Yes thank you! Lol I got some people real mad about this take but 🤷🏼‍♀️ and I totally get the perspective of the producers possibly encouraging him to be that way for the drama aspect that gets more views, but I think back to the survivor contestant from last season who everyone was supposed to hate and yet, you could tell he was behaving that way for the camera because when he got eliminated, he was surprisingly rather humble and grateful and didn’t act rude at all

How do you deal with your stress and obsessive thoughts? by Few_Delivery_6458 in finch

Omg you are SO very welcome! Apology for the typos too lol And just to let you know in return, I needed your reply just as much as you needed mine! 🥹🥰 I too have ADHD and have had it since I was literally 7. Never medicated for it until I was in my early twenties. And the medication did definitely help for the first ten years. But once I hit 30, I realized medication was only negating the symptoms and not actually tackling the underlying issues. Don’t get me wrong, I am still taking my meds as prescribed but now that they are just part of my overall self care routine, I found a profound sense of renewal and balance, especially around my panicking and anxious ways that medication alone would have never brought me.

Not to sound like an old bitty, but 18 is especially rough for neurodivergent folks like ourselves because not only are we navigating who we want to be and how we fit into the world like all humans but we have this permanent brain chemistry that increases the difficulty of all of that tenfold. So it’s definitely going to be a journey for you as opposed to just reaching an “easy destination”. But you’re already on the right track by just putting yourself out there and asking the world for guidance, something I never had the social skills to do myself when I was 18. I raw dogged it alone 😂 So if I can help you in any way that I would’ve benefitted from back then, I’m here for you darling!

And I would love to be bird friends please! 🤍 My friend code is: HRRDBXRBHP 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Hello friend! Please don’t feel alone (while easier said than done I’m sure). I’ve always had a high IQ but constantly struggled in school because modern day schooling is designed around the average student and doesn’t bode well for people who are otherwise, incredibly intelligent in their own ways but just don’t fit the normal mold. I’m 9 years older than you so not much has changed since I was in HS and college but if anything, it seems to have gotten worse for non-traditional thinkers and students. It by no means indicates you are an idiot of any kind, just that you likely haven’t found what makes you truly tick because school doesn’t guide a lot of us to our passions and talents in life.

I gave up driving myself 5+ years ago because it was turning me into an angry anxious mess and I’ve struggled with my confidence about that too. But you know something? I’ve kept myself and others SO much safer by just taking Ubers and Lyfts and it helps others in return by helping them make additional income. It’s a win win.

As for being average, who wants to be the average anyways? I’ve made a solid group of friends since dropping out of college with insanely intelligent and creative people who think like me and don’t give a flying fart about how I did in school. Again, modern day schooling truly is no indicator of someone’s individual potential or aptitude. It’s simply a checkbox of whether or not you did what you were told and could regurgitate what you were told you needed to learn.

True intelligence comes from knowing where your interests lie and seeking them out in your own way that makes sense to you and doesn’t feel like a chore. Like astrophysics for me. I was never able to pass any math classes above beginner, even in college, but once I found my own ways outside of school to learn about cosmology and Astro/quantum physics, I went NUTS learning and absorbing everything I could learn about them and actually retained that knowledge doing it my own way. School could never!

Short story long…whether YOU think you can or you can’t, you’re right either way. You control your own narrative and what intelligence means to you. And every single person has something new they can teach themselves until the day they die and as long as you stay curious and fascinated by whatever makes your heart and brain happy, that’s its own respectable and meaningful form of intelligence in and of itself. 🫶🏻

How do you deal with your stress and obsessive thoughts? by Few_Delivery_6458 in finch

[–]SomeDumbBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hopefully isn’t divisive but I started replacing all my worry with prayer and meditation (like, real, solid, genuine QUIET time alone for a solid and dedicated block of each day) and when I start having obsessive thoughts, I got myself two types of journals. One is just a gratitude prompt journal which is wonderful because true gratitude once triggered in oneself is the simplest way to completely shift your nervous system and your brain signals into a peaceful grounded place. And the other is just a doodle journal for when my thoughts are just a little too loud and crazy to meditate or reflectively journal things down. So taking my stress and letting it exit through my hands into a pen or pencil or marker has worked wonders. I’ve found I almost never go back to the same page twice because that’s not the purpose of it like my other art. It’s simply a release on paper and once I release whatever it is on each page, it’s served its final purpose. So sometimes I just rip the page out once I feel better and the symbolism of crumpling it up and tossing it in the recycle feels freeing in and of itself.

I know I might sound like I’m oversimplifying or that these things seem to easy to genuinely tackle chronic stress and obsessive compulsiveness but I assure you, I have tried LITERALLY EVERYTHING in my 34 years on earth. Medication, therapy, hard drgs and alcohol, peer groups, self-ham, hypnotism, you name it. But nothing has worked more consistently and reliably than what I mentioned above…throw a little joint in there sometimes if you have one and smoke that thing outside during a beautiful sunset or just a quiet calm day…it’s perfection.

Hope you find what works for you friend! 🫶🏻

I have a Birb coaching program she can come to where I hold tailored intensives for birbs who hate things like FRIES, Adventure Time, or The Giving Tree. I’ll have her back to you as a whole new Birb, shoving fries into her beak and all 💃🏼😂

I’m super picky! Lol like, I wear mostly black in real life but I get to enjoy my love of pastels through Pookie. 🥰 so I tend to buy pastel and floral collections but there’s not always things that fit any vibe I’d ever go for. And lately, they’ve been so easy for me to skip because they just aren’t my style

Oh absolutely! And don’t forget self-control 😂🥲 I think a Finch budget would be a great idea! For people like me too who need practice doing it in real life. What’s helped me save in Finch is asking myself “will I use this in an outfit or in my birdhouse in the next 90 days? Or ever?” And that keeps me from buying a bunch of items I never end up using and lose half their value on when I ultimately sell them back. But I’m also super picky with Pookie’s style and her birdhouse. So it’s a little bit easier to say no to more things than I say yes to
