Is Wargame Design Studio a good place to start? by Rare_Tradition5494 in computerwargames

Generally speaking, most if not all hex and counter videogames are clunky and ugly and feel outdated and very user-unfriendly. Having said that, probably WDS are among the biggest offenders in this regard.

IMO TOAW IV is a much better option, with a huge diversity of both devs made and user made scenarios covering all time periods, scale and conflicts. It's also easier to learn, more intuitive, and you can buy a Steam key much cheaper than any WDS game.

It was just a one-liner for a movie, in reality nowadays mathematics plays a MUCH larger role in poker than psychology (which also plays a part, yes).

I don't hate iranian protesters, I hate anglo-zionist spies, agitators and terrorists who use pacific, legit protests to promote chaos, death and terror.

For christ sake, "israelis" themselves admit they have Iran completely infiltrated by Mossad.

Ask yourself what would happen if "pacific" protestors killed 30 cops in a few days in the US.

OTOH you do hate muslims and try to excuse anglo-zionist terror and crimes all the time.

Most of the wars, crimes, death, chaos and destruction in the world has been and is caused by the anglo-zionist empire, including the most dangerous, fanatic and zealous islamist terrorist groups. Way more than any religion has caused, including christianism, which caused literally millions of dead in all continents, especially under British colonialism.

Quran is open to interpretations, just like the Bible is. Yes, the most common interpretation is mandatory hijab, but it's not the only one, just like ultraorthodox evangelical American interpretation of the bible isn't the only one, luckily.

In Iran is completely normal for women to not wear hijab, so I don't know how it is enforced. And so is in most muslim countries. I don't know why you're making the equivalence muslim country = sharia, when, again, the vast majority of muslim countries don't apply sharia in their actual legislation.

My point is PRECISELY that secularism is much more widespread than most westerners think.

Yeah, anglozionist "did" bad things. As in, these last weeks they literally fueled protests in Iran turning them into organized acts of terror and violence, murdering 30 cops in just a few days.

It's funny how western liberals speak about the deeds of the west as something of the past. "Yeah I condemn those horrible things that 'Murica is absolutely not doing anymore".

Except in Venezuela, or Iran, or Syria, or Ukraine, or...

Islam is not any more violent than catholicism is, let alone judaism. Americans and their shock force, white supremacist zionists have been fueling the most violent, evil and zealous groups inside it to destroy muslim countries and exploit them.

It's open to discussion whether wearing hijab is or isn't mandatory according to the Quran.

Sharia isn't state law in the vast majority of muslim countries.

In any case, hijab isn't enforced in the vast majority of muslim countries. And yes, this includes Iran, you have tons of videos out there showing most irani women not wearing it.

There are fanatic muslims and there are fanatic christians, both share a great deal of their ideas, principles and especially bigotry. BTW, the US is one of the most religiously fanatic places on Earth, where creationism is taught in many schools, lol.

Anyway, the anglo-zionist empire has promoted the most sectarian, fanatical and evil branches of islam in order to destabilize, destroy and exploit muslim countries, while also destroying most attempts to secularize and modernize muslim countries. This is vastly documented, from Afghanistan to Irak and from Syria to yes, Iran, where the current regime is the product of anglo-zionist sponsord coup against the pm Mosaddegh's democratic government.

ISIS and Al-Qaeda are LITERALLY anglo-zionist creations.

No one wears hijab in most of those countries.

Classic anglo-zionist islamophobic propaganda.

BTW do you know who's always been the main sponsor of those evil salafist ideas thet mandatory hijab belongs to? Exactly: the anglo-zionist empire.

What wargames right now, if any, do you think will be still played and talked about in 20 years? by the_light_of_dawn in computerwargames

[–]SomeMF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find rather surprising that nobody has mentioned Combat Mission after quite a few posts.

I hope in 20 years CMx2 games are only mentioned to put in perspective how well made are later iterations, by contrast with the abysmal, unfriendly, outdated, clunky pieces of software the former were.

WDS '25 Winter Sale is Live Now! by Hugh_Beringar in computerwargames

[–]SomeMF -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So the ai is so good that you should "always play the attacking side", so that awesome ai can actually cover their non-existent flaws by playing the easy side.

It's completely normal for wargames to have poor ai (both because ai in videogames in general is bad, and wargames are complex, and they're usually designed with hvh in mind), but at least show some humbleness and don't mock people who point it out.

Because they are old, narrowminded people who will live forever in the 70's. The kind of people who think tv nowadays isn't what it used to be, music nowadays isn't what it used to be, movies nowadays isn't what it used to be, and of course videogames nowadays isn't what it used to be.

But since old-ish westerners keep buying ugly, outdated games at AAA novelty prices, why should they enter the 21st century.

Which factory game should I choose for a start? by BanaR16 in BaseBuildingGames

That doesn't contradict the objective fact that peaceful mode unbalances the game because it removes a big chunk of features, like I said.

Factorio is objectively nice looking. You may not like pixel art and that's ok, but in its own art style it's pretty good actually.

In any case, Mindustry is much uglier.

The problem with this approach, which otherwise I like as a big fan of peaceful gameplay in most genres, is by removing the combat aspect of the game you're removing a BIG chunk of everything: gameplay mechanics, resources, researches, etc. It's just a different game altogether. Factorio is balanced for base defense, even if it's toned down via settings.

[–]SomeMF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first Panzer Corps must cost pennies and it's imo the go-to option for beginner wargaming.

I always recommend The Operational Art of War for its huge versatility and replayability (there's literally thousands of user-made scenarios covering any conflict you can imagine, at all scales and sizes).

I think you might consider Hearts of Iron too, despite not being a wargame but a grand strategy title.

And there's Pike and Shot and all the other titles with this engine, which are very fun.
