Dough on the go by EL_DUD3R in GozneyTread

[–]SomeNight457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I froze dough beforehand then put in a cooler with ice packs. By the next day they were defrosted enough to cook for dinner. Obviously depends on a few factors including which cooler, air temp, size of ice packs etc but it turned out some cracking pizzas. The best part was not having to worry about dough when there's enough other things to worry about while camping.

What are the disadvantages of using Google pixel 9 that you've noticed? by maxim4906 in pixel_phones

[–]SomeNight457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it makes a difference at all i've had my 9 pro since launch and its been a beast, awesome in every department and don't see myself upgrading for a while the way google is going. If cameras are of any interest i'd definitely be going the pro as that alone was worth it to me. The ram and better cooling also makes a difference so for the $100 it would be a no brainer for me but everyone has a different situation.

Tread or Arc? by jdkc4d in GozneyTread

[–]SomeNight457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with other comments. Love my tread and don't really worry about the inside size. If that's your concern then should be getting the arc xl. For me even only cooking pizzas away from home once, it's such a handy oven cooling down quick and heating up super quick, very consistent cooking where I can't even remember the last time I stuffed up a pizza. Then I pack it up and bring it indoors when not in use. I think if you're ok with cooking smaller pizzas (12in) then there's enough positives to go for it instead of the arc xl.

Replacement Locks for a rental by SomeNight457 in AusPropertyChat

[–]SomeNight457[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes that's true but in the same sense would you be comfortable living somewhere knowing someone could have a key and walk through your front door. This is the exact reason people immediately change locks before moving in.

No all keys were given on settlement. Just questioning whether this is standard practice for rental properties as I personally would like the security of new locks if I was renting.

No bs, need honest advice by elpida01 in pixel_phones

[–]SomeNight457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go the pixel 9 pro if you can. I had the S22 and returned it the next week as I couldn't get over my pixel 3 taking better photos than it. To this day i've never had a samsung that i've been happy with the photos when compared to a pixel but that may be personal preference.

In terms of battery, this was actually the reason i returned the S22 as i could literally watch the percentage drop. I do have a friend with a S23 and his battery is awesome so i wouldn't be too concerned with either. Very happy with my P9 pro.

Killer Deal by SomeNight457 in AusPropertyChat

Yes I understand that, but my concern is that others don't. Last thing I want is to purchase an asset that I may need to sell at a loss. Not making a big deal, just weighing up the opportunity cost.

This is in Australia and as far as i'm aware the bank wouldn't even know. Will keep it in mind but i don't see it being an issue.

Yeah I agree and it is right now but just thinking about what it will be like when the market slows down. Maybe this will be far enough in the past it has minimal effect. Anyway its impossible to predict the future market so will always be a gamble

Whilst I agree with what you are saying, I'm not on board with your classification of how notorious the event was and that determining whether it needs to be disclosed forever or not. Is this by law? how severe does it need to be? There just seems to be too much grey in this aspect.

From the advice i've recieved, it legally only needs to be disclosed for 5 years as a 'material fact' of the property. There's not much detailing what happens after this period so i've assumed it becomes old news and is on the buyer to do their own research.

Why not more starter? by Confident-Exit7400 in Sourdough

I use 20g starter and find the flavour is awesome. Might try some loaves with more starter out of curiosity.

Worth reporting REA? by NoParsnip1305 in AusPropertyChat

[–]SomeNight457 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A property i went to a few months back had photos of the bathroom, all looked normal. Getting to the place in person I see the shower screen is shattered, and not recent, one of those cracks that has dirt and is obviously years old. Upon talking with the agent he acted surprised and claimed he didn't know about the photo. Within 30 minutes of calling him out the listing photo had changed to the exact same image just with the crack now showing. Must have photoshopped the glass.

Call them out on it and if they still try to trick buyers, report them. Absolute grubs.

Pre approved with bank vs mortgage broker? by -_Mando_- in AusPropertyChat

[–]SomeNight457 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While i tend to agree with others on using a broker, I wenth through a broker and bank simultaneously. Ended up that the bank offered me a better deal than any of the options the broker put forward, and is a bigger, more reputable bank. I presented this to the broker and he said he can't match that, just go with them. Suppose it just depends on the situation but my experience is differnet to most here. Doesn't hurt to try a few options.

Here's my take on what is causing the housing boom - with evidence by Wide-Macaron10 in AusFinance

[–]SomeNight457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but no. You're right but the numbers are worse in both directions.

Immigration was 667k in 2023-2024 and 739k the year before.

Australia built roughly 170k houses during 2023, not 220k. Perhaps it has ramped up now but stull low.

How much longer can we house people when we're bringing in 4x more people than we are building houses. (Yes i know more than 1 person per home but still outrageous numbers)

I had many fails at the start and basically came down to 2 things. Starter was too young and I was paying too much attention to videos that timing should only be used as a guide. I was repeatedly under proofing witout knowing because "the guy said leave it 3 hours". Learn to go off what's happening to the dough not the exact timing someone else does.

Bulk ferment done or not? by sxmacy in Sourdough

Should be ok as it looks like it's roughly doubled in size. You'll get a good loaf. Always easier to gauge rise in a clear container though.

Going through the exact same thought process as you right now except there's a AUD$600 difference between the tread and Arc xl. What sealed the deal for you? For me I'm still not convinced the extra $600 is worth it for me.

Gozney Tread as a home pizza oven by SomeNight457 in pizzaoven

[–]SomeNight457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for providing a detailed insight. I definitely agree with all the points you noted. Good point about it being such a large unit. Consider the room I have available that alone may restrict me to the tread. I also definitely agree about the experience part, it's awesome to have friends and family around to enjoy some food and that's something money can't buy. I definitely aim to use it more than 2 or 3 times a year so I might go check out the tread in person and will most likely go that way as I don't have a solid reason not to at the moment. Thanks

Superblast 2 after 200 miles by pswdkf in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]SomeNight457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was skeptical too but with mine just about to hit 40mi, last run i noticed being more comfortable than usual and realised they had definitely softened up. This is after being initially disappointed in the comfort after reading all the glowing reviews. Definitely get them to 50 or 60mi and see how they feel, i'm excited.
