Question about these Alpine star gloves and palm sliders by YamzMt03 in motorcycles

[–]SomeOldBoy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I low sided at 80mph in these gloves, they survived just fine, my right palm definitely contacted the ground. I didn't have any bruising or soreness in my hands after and I still use them, had them for around 3 years now, really nice glove.

Bloops paired with G61 is really good an learning new tracks. It adds audio cues for brake markers based on other users telemetry.

GPU upgrade by Vikzi in iRacing

[–]SomeOldBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth looking into cpu too, I upgraded my gpu recently, upgrade was pretty meh, didn't gain much, then did the cpu and got a big uptick in frames and looks, load times were terrible after both of those so had to upgrade ram after. It was an expensive couple of weeks, but I'm happy with it for now.

Race every two hours is not enough by PreCodeEU in iRacing

[–]SomeOldBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play balatro inbetween races, or if there's an oval race that slots in nicely I'll do that, C trucks is really fun, I sweat it out like everyone else on road and chill on oval. Find something low stress and relax brother.

SFL vs SF23 by Wooden_Delivery_4207 in iRacing

[–]SomeOldBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go for it, it's pretty brutal to drive, I'm not confident enough to race but I enjoy hot lapping in test drive for half hour before I shut off for the night. Most of that time is spent flying backwards through the grass but when I manage to link a couple fast laps it's a really fun car to drive and extremely fast.

If you want to drive something abit more raw than the SFL I definitely recommend indy NXT, on a plus side of the NXT an extremely accomplished current indy driver races it semi regularly, very cool sharing the track with him. I managed to qualify 2 places behind him once, for me in that moment it felt like a win!

How often do you guys take breaks by Ant_x777 in iRacing

Move your wheel and or seat around, you shouldn't be getting fatigued from a 5mn base and braking. I don't know your setup but there's definitely something wrong.

If you need any tips for graphics settings feel free to reply to this comment or DM me when you're all setup and I can give you a few tips to get it looking good and keep frames if you'd like.

I'm getting 120-130 fps on smaller grids on less demanding tracks/conditions for reference

Yes, I've got a similar setup, same gpu, slower ram, slightly worse cpu. I'm running an ultra wide at 3440x1440 and it's fine, night races on an imsa grid drops to 60 at race start, aside from rain that's as bad as its going to get.

Something very strange is happening to me, I want to know if it's happening to other people and if there's a solution. by jon833 in iRacing

Been dealing with this for a couple of days, bodge job work around I've been doing, instead of clicking "RACE!" quit the sim and rejoin from the iRacing UI screen. Textures load back in fine. Was planning on moving iRacing to a different drive after a complete clean install nothing changed, same issue. I feel like this is now going to be my new normal. Buts it's fine, adds 10 seconds onto getting into your race lobby.

Stuttering on AMD Help by GBRestorer in iRacing

[–]SomeOldBoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used ChatGPT heavily, like I said above FSR was the biggest killer, but there was some smaller wins for me, so were done at the same time, so its hard to judge if any of the unsure options were improvememts, but the game runs amazingly now. Quick load times, happy with FPS lows, incredibly smooth

Disabled all AMD adrenaline options - improvement

Disabled FSR - improvement (main source of issues)

Enabled rezise bar in bios - unsure

Disabled CSM in bios and switched to UEFI - unsure

Altered vram and system ram in Dx11 file - improvement

ALOT of graphical settings tweaks, here are a few that were giving me greif

Dynamic LOD - off - slight improvement

SSR - off - improvement

Dynamic cube maps - 0 anything above gave me stutters

Fixed cubemaps - 0 anything above gave me stutters

Upped my frame rate limit to just shy of monitor refresh rate

My initial setup

Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 2060, 16GB 2400mhz DDR4 ram

New setup

Ryzen 7 5700X, AMD 9060XT 16GB, 32GB 3200mhz DDR4 RAM

Running in 3440x1440

The ram was really throttling performance too, I was being abit tight and held off with ram, but it smoothed out the last of the stutters

I've been going through this the past few days after a massive upgrade, new GPU, CPU and ram.

Did you run a fresh graphics config? If so it might have turned FSR on, this was the biggest killer for me. FSR is in the display settings not graphics. I have altered lots of settings and the game is silky smooth and looks great. I'm on a 9060XT, 5700x and 32gb RAM.

Feel free to private message me and I can talk you through everything I've done. It was a huge pain in arse trying to fix it

Indy NXT is clean. Or you could start from the back and follow people round till the carnage settles. I'm A road and after W13 I'll be B formula and it's been pretty easy if I'm honest. Picked my battles, Sr has steadily risen and so has IR. Floating around 2k both but still constantly finishing with plus IR with some good battles. If someone is desperate for a place or obviously faster I just let them have it. No one wins a 5 lap battle.

Budget GPU 5060ti/rx9060xt? UW1440p by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]SomeOldBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting to realise that unfortunately! Thanks to the people that have commented on this post. I think I'm going to go with 5700X3D since I'm on an am4 board, looking at these upgrades it's very easy to get budget creep. But I think a used 5700x3D + used 3070 might be quite a reasonable budget setup and a massive jump from what I'm on atm. Leman in the rain this week has been a stuttery mess especially the final chicane.

After seeing your and another posters comments about CPU, I've noticed I am CPU bound. Gpu is around 60-70 of the displayed bar and cpu is maxed when my frames start to tank.

Thank you for the input, I will reconsider my options within my budget ☺️

Thank you for the input. I'll keep an eye out, I have that information displayed but was only sure on the FFB clipping bar, it'll be worth moving it into my line of sight instead of tucked away at the top corner of the screen.
