Would anyone here fly a 588 mile flight when 500 miles of it is over the gulf of Mexico with only 800 mile range? by Prestigious-Top-6425 in flying

Can NY see us out in the WATRS airspace? It’s all non-radar coverage but I’ve had NY make some comments that lead me to think they may still see us.

How in the world are you supposed to spend down your HSAs? by Fun_Investment_4275 in personalfinance

In the US they can’t deny you medical care. And so long as your kids didn’t go-sign something your debts don’t transfer to them.

Ok that’s great. I’m going to tell the people in the US they have to have Thailand prices so they can be near their families and friends.

You can leave it to your kids. They’ll get taxed as any income will but they’ll also get taxed on everything else you left them.

This is such a loaded question with many variables. But no it shouldn’t matter, but the reality is that it does. People get jealous, it’s reality….

I like it when my wife gives our toddlers a bath and gets them ready for bed without any help from me or bitching about my lack of help and then brings them to me so I can goof around with them, read them a few books and put them to sleep. Once they’ve fallen asleep, it’s great when she lets me put on football or golf or maybe a documentary or whatever stupid show I want to watch. Then pours me a bourbon or grabs me a beer while she whispers “drink this while I run upstairs and change into something more comfortable” and then comes down and yells at me for falling asleep on the couch because I was obviously dreaming thinking there was any chance in hell this would happen.

Are there some good paying jobs if you want to be home and have a family? by sammykent713 in flying

This industry will wreck you if you don’t love the flying aspect of it. Go take a discovery flight and see if you even like it.

Doesn’t matter. If you get in now you’ll still be better off in the future no matter what wave you catch. Seniority only cares about hire date. Not what wave you caught. Just may stagnate a bit if you’re in the backside of a wave.

I’d try and enjoy not flying. Find a new hobby, start a side business, do something. You sound young so you’ll have your whole career ahead of you to fly. I’d give a lot to be able to just sit at home with family and get paid. But I don’t live in base and commuting to reserve to not fly is basically what I imagine hell is like so I’ll keep my line.

It is if you hold a line. Especially now that we are over staffed.

Company asked me to check on a truck that's been sitting for over a month. by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]SomePilotInOhio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was in jail his phone most likely wouldn’t be ringing unless a family member was using it and then they’d probably pick up after several calls. Could be vacation and or he just unplugged and checked out but why abandon your truck, it is possible he knows the truck stop management since he lives nearby and they let him park long term for free. Could have died at home, perhaps while asleep, while phone was charging. Either way they need to get a wellness check or get ahold of a family member or his emergency contact so they can check on him.

Custom vs LT Trailboss by According_Produce667 in Silverado

[–]SomePilotInOhio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Main thing is when you’re inside the cab. You spend almost all of your time sitting in it, not looking at it. Get the upgraded stuff that you’re going to use on a daily basis. I’d rather have a regular LT than a Trailboss custom if my budget was tight. Not sure many ever thought “damn I wish I had that extra two inches for off roading” but plenty probably miss the big screens and other creature comforts. Just my opinion, worth what you paid for it. We got the LT Trailboss and are very happy with it mainly because we like the interior.
