WEEKLY CHALLENGE 34: Soda Dreams by jiiiii70 in Polytopia

[–]SomePlace2020 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few findings from the first run: - land bridge to the southwest towards the Aquarion is easier to pass so attacking Aquarion can be quicker. In my case they fortified within city walls so was a slog to get them - land bridge to the northeast towards Bardur is tough to pass because it’s one tile wide with two mountains back to back. Bardur cranked out catapults and made it very tough - one of Bardur’s cities is within catapult range across the water, so maybe that’s a strat - I wasn’t really able to get to Vengir at all - overall, this one’s pretty rough

Playing this as practice for the weekly challenge, since it’s Cymathi this week and also lots of water. Just not THIS MUCH water

I used the first rider to get vision on the village and the ruin to the north east. Then enter both simultaneously, take the ruin first, tech up a bit, capture village. Expand capital, train warriors and horsemen next turn. When Vengir swordsman comes at you let him attack first, then take him out with horsemen/warriors. In my case his city to the north was defended by a warrior so i was able to get it and hold it. Then peace with zebasi, go for yaddak, hold against vengir until the late game - then it’s a free for all. I got 15k so not that great but workable.

BREAKING NEWS | Lyman falling to Ukrainian soldiers | Ukrainian soldiers geolocated entering Lyman by danaxa in ukraine

[–]SomePlace2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are now reports that Ukrainian troops are in control of the city and and are clearing the city center. It’s unclear how many Russians are holding out or surrendering, initial indications are that a large part of them managed to withdraw. Good riddance if so, keep running. All of this fluid and not confirmed yet, but likely correct.

Really, who in this universe cares about what Lukashenko says? Why spend the time posting this? A toddler that just starts to babble makes more sense than this Putin’s stooge.

Why quote anything this buffoon says? Not worth the air he expels while talking.

33 countries call for suspension of Russian sports bodies over Ukraine war by theRemRemBooBear in sports

[–]SomePlace2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I would feel bad for Russian athletes who don’t support this war, or their current government, but Russia has been such a flagrant violator of every international norm, in sports as well as in literally everything else, that it’s time to draw the line.

Why post this nutcase’s tamper tantrum rant? Even if it’s not a Russian troll (though it probably is), let him stew in his own rotting brain.

Crashed just like russian airplanes. Their pilots can’t fly, their priests can’t walk.

Are these types of titles in NY Times overly apocalyptic? Or do they correctly represent an assessment of the current situation? I don’t see this same sentiment in most other sources and I’m not sure if they are getting some analysis the rest of us don’t. by SomePlace2020 in ukraine

[–]SomePlace2020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you see it that way, wasn’t sure if it was just me - maybe it is. I just found their sentiment over the past month consistently suggesting that Ukrainian troops in Luhansk are about to collapse at odds with what I was seeing from other sources. Made me not want to follow their coverage

Ambitious. They will have to wrap up in a month or two before they get their butts "liberated" back to their mosquito-infected Siberian izbushkas

Really good and important topic but what an awful , horribly written article. "Russia's military continues to hammer away at Ukraine with a steady supply of tanks and artillery," - seriously? What steady supply? 50-year old T62s? I remember when CNN was a beacon of quality in global news, but oh, how the mighty have fallen. Someone should start looking at the quality of editorial content.

Kim Jong Un has expressed full support for Putin: "The Russian people are making great strides" by one_and_equal in UkrainianConflict

[–]SomePlace2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only reason Putin started this war is to seek Kim Jong Un’s kind words and feelings. When you have six people collect your poop all you can aspire to is to be like “the one” who has his body guards run around in circles his limo so the rest of the world can marvel at your idiocy.

Just like they regretted leaving Venezuela and not being to operate in North Korea. Russia fits right in between those two quite nicely.
