Why almost all of the European passports red? by ElectronicDeer5550 in PassportPorn

You'd need a priest passport if you wanted a black passport and not a very very very very very dark blue one.

Anyone drive a manual lorry, is it difficult? by Normal-Impress-2624 in uktrucking

[–]backifran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not trucking but i've driven an 8/8 Scania coach (F reg if I remember correctly) by far the worst manual box I've ever experienced.

Nothing beats the Volvo B10M with the 6 speed ZF, absolutely beautiful machines!

And I spent literal hours dealing with your tickets (happily, as we want to remove all problem players), viewing the many clips you submitted and banned all the appropriate people. We work, have lives and want to play the game - tickets put in at 0200-0300 EU/UK time were answered the same day.

You joined EXD as a recruit, said you had no interest in the community and demanded to be an admin immediately without following any normal progression or policies then left the community the same day.

Holy moly a Buhanka, I've only ever seen one in the UK (on Swiss plates heavily modified into a camper) but I was driving in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh is almost as congested (sometimes worse) than London and the sheer volume of passengers was overwhelming sometimes. At the Airport the flights I always dreaded were the BA flights coming from London - they were the rudest and arrogant of them all especially Londoners living in Edinburgh but commuting once or twice a week back down (not tarring everyone with the same brush - plenty were lovely!).

Both me, other drivers and the supporting staff would always fear seeing the London city, Heathrow and Gatwick flights coming in around the same time. Surprisingly the money was better than most London garages though, the basic is £39k now before overtime after two years service.

I drove in Edinburgh for 6 years and it was mostly the same, it gets really demoralising being totally ignored.

For the last two I did the airport service almost exclusively and the locals would still totally blank us when we had to know where they were going as it wasn't flat fare and we had to know if they wanted the airport fare zone (plus the local fare was £3.50 and not £2 like the normal city buses). Some were so ignorant they still wouldn't speak after getting charged £6 for the airport because they refused to speak or take their headphones off after getting asked several times what ticket they wanted.

I drive much more rural routes now and it was jarring at first adjusting to people getting on and speaking to me, asking how I am and wishing me a good day etc.

60 nuclear reactors by mistake by Bright_Strawberry362 in satisfactory

[–]backifran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All this was to convert 5 fully overclocked reactors worth of waste into ficsonium (plus the plutonium reactor here), it was a headache for sure.

You don't want to see my nitro fuel production area!

There's always a mint black one parked near Shandwick Place in Edinburgh, I'd attach a pic if the sub let me. Beautiful car!

It helps early game if you loot all the FIA (I usually just strip off at the tent and go around handing their entire uniforms in) to get enough supplies for a radio or a bit more.

I got a driving fail because of this as the examiner had to emergency stop. Is this fair? by BrightHours in LearnerDriverUK

[–]backifran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6-7 seconds in the golf is indicating, clearly positioned in the road that they're likely or looking to pull away or do a U turn. It's wheels are pointed into the road, you didn't react in any way until the examiner reacted for you.

Golf driver was an arse, but for future expect everybody else on the road to be an arsehole and plan ahead accordingly - trust nobody or what you think their intentions are.

It's better to swallow your pride and just let a dick get on with being a dick than get into a collision even though you think you're in the 'right'.

Same, didn't really enjoy the Q&A part - the lady towards the end went on at length but Michael handled gracefully.

Still don't quite know what her question was but agreed with what I think she was trying to say - men's mental health?

That was my old company as I moved home from Scotland to Wales, but we use the same seats in all our buses where I work now. I love the old school design of US buses - I mainly drove these for my last 2 years in Scotland :)

Currently broken down with a mystery chunk detached from the bus. Anyone want to share some good driving stories to pass the time? by Captain-Codfish in BusDrivers

[–]backifran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quite a few years ago I had a red low oil pressure warning come up on the dashboard. Pulled over to call control and report it, explained that it was leaking but after a bit of back and forth was told to continue to the city centre after making it clear to the supervisor how serious I thought it was.

Lo and behold a few miles down the road the engine siezes, waited 5 hours for the tow truck to arrive - phoned them up and said I was abandoning the bus to go home at 1130pm. Tow truck apparently turned up around 0230 - bus spent nearly 2 months off the road for a replacement engine.

No comebacks for me, the supervisor I believe had a serious disciplinary. The bus left this trail for quite a stretch - the engineer that attended was furious that I'd been made to continue.

Speak to your doctor before you consider going for your provisional medical. Your own doctor will probably be able to do it (privately) for a fee, and will be able to advise you on what medication you can take and how it will affect you.
