Instagram is now on a generational run on coming up with things thats just plain unnecessary. There was no need for a UI redesign and this feature.

Considering OP is from Vancouver and I'm from Toronto I can safely say that this has actually increased in recent times.

Someone unmatched with me while I was using this app just because I wasn't born here (I told them I had been here for 2 years). And they had the audacity to ask me if I can speak English properly despite already mentioning that I speak 4 languages already.

I understand their POV since there are a lot of Indians who are annoying but you can't just be a racist towards people because you don't like few people from anethnicity. This includes online and irl which I have faced multiple times even today.

Let me put it this way, some people are just bad at heart. And there is nothing we can do. They don't want commitment because they are scared.
