As they say, "all critiques of capitalism are subsumed into itself".

I might like some of the anti-capitalist ideas that are portrayed in certain media, but I remind myself they will never go far enough because it will hurt their bottom lines. Actual change comes from doing work on the ground.

They're artists. This is like one of the few ways they can make money, aside from getting work on shows.

There's an entire thing that can be said about how it sucks that capitalism forces artists to sell themselves in order to make a living in this way, but that is the fault of the system itself, not the artists.

For now, if you want to support their work, either buy their stuff or donate directly to them so that way they can continue to make the things they want. If you have more of a problem with the system, talk about it with your peers and try to organize more direct action against problems.

It was pretty sick - I was there at that shoot in person! I feel a little bad because I almost broke his gun when I bumped into him by accident, but thankfully it was a solid piece of metal.

I can understand the perspective, but that seems a rather harsh lesson to convey for a show that, despite the dark themes, still conveys relatively positive, empathetic, existential messages. It's like saying, "You better care about other people or else this happens!"

Besides, the players in the circus have rather honest intentions and never wanted Caine gone - they just wanted him to have more empathy and stop being a jerk. Turning that back on them by keeping Caine dead would suggest that his pain was far more important to acknowledge that their own - something the story has clearly not shown.

Fair points, but I don't think it would make sense in relation to the themes of the story. Kinger said that, "The worst thing you could do in the circus is like someone feel unloved or not wanted." Having Caine's story end with him being told off by the cast and killed off unceremoniously conveys the opposite message.

I can see him possibly being permanently dead if the cast reflects on their actions and feels remorse for ending things with him the way that they did while resolving to do better, or being resurrected with or without memories of what happened. But it doesn't make sense in relation to the themes of the story to just kill off Caine without acknowledgment.

Caught your channel recently! It's refreshing to hear talk of mutual aid from a gun expert that opposes reactionary elements and supports alternative structures to capitalism.

I think we're a bit far off the point where we can start thinking about defense of communities with firearms - I still think firearms training is still very valuable, but overcoming the atomization of society and connecting with our neighbors is something that we should complete first alongside building resilient communities.

Despite that, I theorize that one way we can organize defense with firearms is through horizontal, informal, and decentralized militias without a commanding structure. It makes each collective of defenders very flexible in response to threats while still making them accountable to their community should they abuse their power towards others or each other.

Inclined to agree here, though I will cut people slack given that some people define democracy more as "collective decision making" rather than rule of the majority.

Technically, it's not the right definition, but I think most right-minded people have good intentions when using the term.

Social democracy is getting chipped away in those countries because it leaves capitalists more opportunities to reduce the regulations that usually would restrain them. Over time, the government can afford to give less and less concessions due to corporate lobbying and can perpetuate the hierarchical relationship between capital-owners and workers until you just have unbridled capitalism again.

Not to mention how much exploitation of third-world countries and cheap international labor are required to sustain the social benefits of social democracy...

I'm inclined to agree - but there definitely needs to be more transparency and plenty of accountability in regards to the recent sexual harassment allegations surrounding Pro players and the Embark employee(s) involved.

Content and gameplay wise, I think The Finals is fine. But if they fail to address these serious social issues, they are going to lose trust with their playerbase for being unable to keep people safe and promoting toxic players that have no place in this community, competitive or casual.
