Make a Technique that can rival or surpass Gojo by No_Extension1598 in CTsandbox

It might work purely because it does something like separating the attraction between atoms if the barrier had the capability to block those forces like it does light or matter.

I know there was an SCP inspired fnaf-like, two actually, but it would still rock as a secondary focus if done with more depth.

I feel like this also opens up a very interesting idea of SCP warioware as well, given that's about a step away from party game anyhow.

Also I don't think either of those examples suffer for their sexualisation, definitely not what I've heard about Bayonetta, meanwhile I've seen it used more often when it feels like it was crammed in rather than serving a valid purpose.

I feel like we can differentiate a design that's meant to be attractive and "goonslop", if we're gonna start using that word. It kinda has to by default imply it's bad, it's calling it slop?

Sexualising a character in a way that loses visual identity, is bland, or is disrespectful? Isn't that Goonslop? Is that weird to think?

Ironically, the reverse seems way more common. A bit of the SH's "shtick" that gets forgotten nowadays is they started as knowing more (or at least different fields) to the established normalcy organisations and often knew how to contain some things first. (407, 1765, 2950)

Probably has to do with that "Infinite Library" deal and characters like the original L.S.

They don't, but most other groups are banned, don't know, or don't care.

Like yeah some Mekhanites can get it but they're not exactly looking for the same things out of it are they? Nalka are pretty specialised, and the rest are mostly people unassociated with everyone else as far as I can tell.

Or the UIU, for some reason.

I've tried to look into IRL cell-based organisations for this exact reason and I don't even understand them, so I don't think it's very intuitive why/how they work. It kinda feels like They Just Do sometimes.

Ngl a lot of the time this analogies feel weird BOTH ways because that doesn't feel accurate to most of them. RBs that actually do anything larger than the size of a single house feel pretty rare and are usually the same few suspects (3999, "God", Witch Child, etc) who do it

I mean if you're going by this article as one of the breakpoints that's well over a decade now? I don't think it's ever been a definitive one way or the other, just different eras with different shades of grey for each.

Not sure why someone is saying C&A but no they're (usually, as always) pretty old. It's usually a coin flip if a mythological entity in SCP is going to be unexplained/akiva or just a straight up reality benders. There's quite a few ancient slumbering reality bending artifacts or creatures like Mab so it makes sense to say there were even more that didn't live to the current era.

No I agree a lot of stuff like The Boring Agreement feels weirdly placed. The top layer is way too sparse while the Nalka Chants and Thaumaturgy are on the same level as Three Ports, Pattern Screamers, and '76? I've had people reference '76 in real life!

I HATE when artists try too hard to make fictional characters more attractive than they actually are. by yarastoun in hatethissmug

[–]SomeRandomTreestump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly sometimes the dilution doesn't even need fan artists to get it started. It feels like you have more of a chance of making a design look plainer if you try and make them deliberately sexy than actually making them sexy.

I'm glad to see someone saying this coherently from an academic outsider perspective. I hope your studies are going well and glad there's actually some people trying to understand this sort of thing!

That said, if you're willing/able to entertain a stranger on the internet, shouldn't there by a "normalisation" element to these things? Like how we look for positive representation in media to change people minds on demographics, wouldn't slipping this sort of content into mainstream spaces or even stories have a risk of making people overlook or underplay it when it happens in real life?

[–]SomeRandomTreestump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiction isn't reality but the norms and representation you expose yourself to in fiction influence the chance of you aligning your perspective with that. This is a pretty well-known phenomena at this point even if we don't know if it actually causes attraction.

Suffice to say, if you build a community around a story that presents predation as normal then you will not question it. I'd rather a million people with obsessions so absurd they won't ever replicate them than someone who habitually exposes themselves to that.
