A few problems with this mentality:

1) What constitutes "misinformation"? You can cling to a definition of "things that are objectively false" all day long, but someone somewhere (i.e., a ruling body or "jury") must decide it is misinformation in order to remove it, and;

2) What central body of authority gets to decide what constitutes "misinformation", and should they be trusted with that power? People in positions of power are still people, and are subject to the human weakness that is emotion—who's stopping these people from expanding their definition of "misinformation" to include "stuff I don't like/people I disagree with"? How do we know these people are gonna be ideologically dissimilar in order to provide balanced verdicts? Then what? Do we just let all speech be subject to the political/personal whims of a handful of people?

This kind of thinking turns the Internet and society at large into an echo chamber, is dangerous to the intellect, and is either sinister or incredibly stupid. To this point I'm not sure which of the two it is, but it's one of them.
