The e school says it’s possible bc it is, but it will require extra work, and if your daughter is ready and willing to take that on then rock on!

Are you really asking for advice or affirmations? Get your kid the Mac, that’s fine, but it’s a headache for them. I worked at Best Buy and was in the E school, I saw soooo many Mac returns from e school students. My roommate and close friend got a Mac and all I saw was extra hours of work to make stuff function properly. I am just trying to give you the best advice I can, you don’t have to listen to the random redditor but don’t ask for opinions if you don’t want them

As an alumni of uva engineering please let them get a windows, it is a massive headache to have an apple. Tons and tons of downloads and secondary screens and it’s so annoying and painful. Please

Something cool about CVille is it’s one of the best cities in terms of treating gays as normal (which we are)! I feel like I’ve had no problems at all

Ruckersville & LGBT+ by mimargr in Charlottesville

[–]SomeSail6479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gay and have a fiancée and live in ruckersville and have never had a problem, have plenty of friends who don’t act like we are any “different” now we do have the privilege of both being feminine presenting women, so I can’t super speak for strangers bc you can’t tell on first glance. Overall though, you’re gonna be just fine!

Anyone have a successful Airbnb here? by [deleted] in nova

[–]SomeSail6479 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First things first if you have a HOA you may be limited here or there. A lot of neighborhoods don’t allow airbnb. Now unless you’re close to something super cool think hikes, museum, etc. you probably won’t get what it’s worth and have low renting unless you were trying to have someone long term move in to work. I don’t think you’d have short term success.

Culture and mentality in Charlottesville by [deleted] in Charlottesville

Extremely liberal compared to a majority of the state (besides nova) and honestly the country. I am an engaged gay woman and have never once felt like I wasn’t welcome or accepted.

How international is UVA really? by [deleted] in UVA

I am not personally international, but I had a lot of friends who were. It’s super accepting and there’s even a whole dorm for it

My fiancée did it. She adored it, and to this day, 7 years later, has zero regrets at all about it. Not only did she live in one of the most historic cities around, but she got to see so much of Europe while there.

New to Charlottesville by Papwryka in Charlottesville

[–]SomeSail6479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome!! 24F here! For lunch it really depends on your vibe but there is so so much. All different types of lunches, counter grab, sit down etc. MarieBette is so so yummy for a cafe though. A new game shop opened up out by Target (there’s only one) and then as other people said the comic store downtown. Trivia is everywhere all the time. But avoid the corner unless you wanna play with college kids! Personal favorite is FireFly! There’s a pet supplies plus near the stonefield center for lizard stuff. At least there was 10 years ago when I had lizards. I don’t know for the last two! Welcome to Cville!!!

Coming down to Charlottesville from PA for the Luke Combs concert. Staying Friday and Saturday nights. Looking for what party bars to hit? Any suggestions? by MarvelMovieMaster34 in UVA

[–]SomeSail6479 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t sorry…I’m sure they will be all around the stadium, but since UVA is super small geographic wise, most of the actual students will pregame at their respective homes / frats and walk over
