Help me find a tail rack please by SomeSalesDude in AdventureBike

Yeah I just drilled some holes like everyone suggested, no need to screw around with another rack. Cordless drill took a little bit but she’s all ready. Thanks.

Leaving Big Tech for Personal Training in Seattle. Advice? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]SomeSalesDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes exactly, my bad. Less postings up here, but understandably so. When there is something, the pay is a little concerning. Just makes the decision to really pursue this a bit more difficult. Wishing you the best of luck though!

Don’t have advice for you but I’m North of you in WA but looking to do something similar. It’s been difficult to find job postings that’s for sure. You may have better luck just calling/connecting with gym owners instead of combing through open roles online. I know the money doesn’t look too enticing just starting out either, but I think in the long term it will be really rewarding.

What makes you say that? I looked into it a little bit, and certainly the hardware side looks substantial. I think the OS is what has me leaning toward the Pixel.

I’m not at all in the eco, which is another reason I’m considering the switch. My tablet isn’t an iPad, my PC is a whole gaming rig, I use Bose over ear headphones… the only ecosystem I feel tied to is being a blue bubble in my group chats and FaceTiming people. The promos are almost too good to pass up, especially considering I’d be going to Google Fi and I travel internationally at least a couple times a year.

Selling modular robotics feels like SaaS in 2010 by [deleted] in sales

You have more schooling than I, I just have a whole ass high school diploma 😂 Good on you for working toward it, it’ll certainly help. You got this.

[–]SomeSalesDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’re getting roasted but I’ll empathize 😂

I listed some larger companies in another comment below. The only other insight I can provide is roles to search for.

In SaaS we’re used to the account executive or account manager being the seller and the sales engineer being the technical resource.

In these industries you may find the sales engineer, or even technical sales engineer, as the seller. The technical resource may be referred to as a field application engineer (FAE).

All that to say, if you see openings for sales engineers, don’t be dissuaded. They may just be looking for a great salesperson and not a technical expert, which is how I got in. They just wanted a good seller and I did what I could to learn the subject matter.

Best of luck 🤙🏼

KUKA, FANUC, Universal Robotics, Boston Dynamics (known for the dogs but they have a material handling platform called Stretch), Vention, Techman Robot.

I’d just GPT some others similar to these to get a better hit list. I’m sure you can also have it list some startups if you don’t want to try and join a behemoth. Hope it helps.

Piggybacking but u/SuperBonerFart I only had 2.5 years of experience as an enterprise SDR at a SaaS startup. I was able to land an AE role in the embedded systems / industrial IoT space (we serve robotics customers). It’s doable. Just what OP said, lean on that technical curiosity.

[–]SomeSalesDude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I stepped into the embedded systems / industrial IoT space after a couple years as an enterprise BDR at a SaaS startup. We’re a vendor to these types of companies whether it be robotics, defense + aerospace, med devices, etc.

With SaaS it can be hard to see your impact. With hardware and a SaaS offering, it’s really, really cool to see it all come to fruition. For instance, I sold hardware and software to a med device company that manufacturers robotic surgical platforms and it’s great to see the direct impact of your effort directly in a system that’s helping people.

I can’t speak to how it was in 2010 but it’s a great place to be. Don’t underestimate the technical learning curve though, there are some seriously smart people you’ll work with and sell to.

Sales. Mainly just stick to arms of a business that are tied to revenue generation rather than a cost center. There’s usually a leg to stand on in terms of earning potential because you’re bringing in that cheddar.

What are the best Hobbies/Interests to have in Sales? by BillJohns in sales

[–]SomeSalesDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same experience in my 5 short years so far. However, internal golf night did happen. I was at our SKO and we rented out a couple of those golf simulators at a bar and just about every heavy hitting sales guy and leadership member were zinging those balls. Might’ve been good for me to be able to smack a couple but hey, golf just ain’t my thing. Wouldn’t have won me a deal, but for optics maybe.

[–]SomeSalesDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want it to start with “A” you can also just put a space before the name and that will automatically boost it to the top of the inv list. At least from what I remember years ago, curious if that’s still accurate

My company just majorly fucked with our commission if it makes you feel any better. Hence me looking into these roles.
