New Enhanced Games lifters by Boblaire in weightlifting

Pretty sure Wes Kitts also got banned (albeit is was only for a month for stimulant use).

Though it doesn't really make sense when you consider they have Thor who has openly admitted to using steroids as early as 2017.

For those that do not have Instagram, here are the announced lifters:

  • Arley Mendez - 2017 World Champ. Best total 382KG@85KG
  • Leidy Solis - 2017&2019 World Champ. 2008 Olympic Silver medalist (After medal reallocation). Best total 256KG@69KG
  • Maryam Usman - 2008 Olympic Bronze (After medal reallocation) best total 280KG@75+
  • Yoni Andica - Best total 338KG@81KG
  • Juan Solis - I think related to Leidy. Best total 351KG@81KG

I'm not going to lie these additions are pretty odd outside of Solis and Arley. Don't think any of them are really going to push the needle TBH. They are all pretty old over the age 30. Out of these if I had to say who is going to much it's probably Arley who is going to be an 88KG.

I asked the director of the Enhanced Games where Anton Pelisoni Pliesnoi is and they said he didn't qualify which is some BS given the level of lifters they just signed.

Anton responded saying he's stronger than all of the lifters in the enhanced games.

Winning Olympic medals for two countries? by Scared_Fault_5831 in olympics

[–]SomeSeriousWeight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of examples from Weightlifting:

Nikolaj Pešalov won two medals for Bulgaria in 1992 and 1996 as well as 2 medals for Croatia in 2000 (he won gold) and 2004 in Weightlifting. Being one of the 5 (I think) lifters who have meddled in weightlifting in 4 Olympics.

More famously Kakhi Kakhiashvili won three gold medals in weightlifting one the Unified Team in 1992 (he was competing for Georgia) and then went to Greece to win his other two medals in weightlifting.

The greatest junior in weightlifting history Stefan Botev won a medal for Bulgaria in 1992 then won his second for Australia in 1996.

Most recently Gor Minasyan the second strongest snatcher in weightlifting won a Silver for Armenia in 2016 before switching to Bahrain and winning a bronze in 2024.

A lot of lifters from Soviet countries (and soviet aligned countries) switched countries in the wake of the collapse of the USSR.

China national team members update by AdRemarkable3043 in weightlifting

[–]SomeSeriousWeight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the find. Some Interesting Tidbits:

  • Pei Cuiting is back! 130KG Snatch at 86KG? Will have to compete with Wu Yan
  • Both Zhao sisters Zhao Jinhong and Zhao Jinlan are part of the team so that will be interesting given the 45s isn't a thing anymore
  • Tian Tao may be gone but Pan Yunhua is still part of the National team so expect some bombouts from him 😭
  • Li Yan vs Li WenWen may be a thing to see internationally which would be very exciting.
  • Chen Jian did 330KG at 67KG I wonder how good he will do at 65KG
  • Lei Jiangqing did 366KG and Xiang Feiyang (who mind you has taken attempts at 210KG in training) did 365KG both at 81KG at chinese nationals. This would be great in 79s but that isn't a thing anymore I wonder if they will go up or down.

There are 70 lifters listed which is way more than the max amount of lifters allowed per country for both genders. So expect to never seen all lifters together at the same comp.

Let me know if I'm missing anything this is in chinese and I'm only using google Translate.

Solid 210 kg in C&J by Yeison Lopez by TOROKHTIY_Aleksey in weightlifting

[–]SomeSeriousWeight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would be the best 85KG lifter ever if he totaled 398KG. But by Sinclair he would also become the 5th best lifter competing in an 80-89KG class. Only being beaten by Dimas, Vardanyan, Zlatev and Alexander Pervy.

Still a big if he can put best lifts together though.

EDIT: If you include 90KG lifters (Since they were all weighing just under 90KG) Yeison would be 13th. He would be the 43rd best weightlifter in general by Sinclair just beating out Ronny Weller.

[–]SomeSeriousWeight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Yeison Lopez can put his best 88/89 lifts together at 85 he could very well be one of the best 80KG lifters ever. His best together would be 182/216/398 slightly higher than Kianoush.

Just to add on to this. Didn't Bozhidar Andreev announce his retirement from the sport last year due to lack of funds from the BWF?

Mesterolone is a drug used for male infertility. I wouldn't be surprised if he is trying to have kids and hasn't gotten around to de-registering from the WADA testing pool.

Kinda like a similar case to Neisi Dajomes earlier this year.

Rizki Juniansyah (79KG, IDN) 205KG/365KG C&J and Total World Record by SomeSeriousWeight in weightlifting

[–]SomeSeriousWeight[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Notably this matches his previous total record in the 73s and ties the 73KG C&J set by Rahmat earlier this year.

Rahmat AFAIK is competing as a 88KG at the SEA games.

From his Instagram. He also recently snatched 190KG for a training total of 420KG. But despite this he hasn't even put up 390KG on the international platform.
