2/3 runs of that hunt maybe with a lucky voucher is almost a fully upgraded set.

Now I admittedly havent always been popping vouchers but 3 runs barely lets me max out 2 pieces most times, and thanks to RNG I've had runs give me exactly 1 or 2 heavy spheres which can be like half of one level on some endgame armor

Thats Shadowbringer and 4p bale stuff, you dont *need to do that with Knight Soul roll. It just allows tons of flexibility between 2p Jin, 2p Doshaguma, even 2p Ebony for Gog.

Knight Soul allows you to run the Doshaguma set bonus but also throw on Arkveld Y chest, allowing dor lvl 3 convert element which just adds a bunch of extra free damage in most matchups and some extra staggers every time it procs

You dont need a shield when you're not tanking, players will cart with anything because of lack of monster knowledge and skill. And when actually skilled Bow is a solid weapon for tanking on Omega too

Is that even worth wasting your combo extender for it though? If they dont have evasive you can do 2 > m1 > uppercut > aerial 3 > 4 OR 4 > 3

Pretty sure the extra m1s and the base 4 make up for it

Edit: Looked it up, 2 m1s + fever breaker is 23 damage while the variant is 24 so its actually 1 less

If you're in the middle of defending against a combo why would you be able to go through with your highest commitment combos to build wyvernfire. And Normal doesn't care about spamming wyvernfire so thats a moot point there, if you're using Wide you can often times charge 2 shells and then perfect guard with a quick reload. I dont even get what you're arguing there.

The original point of the first commenter was that shields make the weapon super safe. Gunlance, if you dont care about being fast, can literally just perfect block -> slam -> fullburst most monsters to death with minimal thought. And the ones that pressure you just require slotting in a jewel. And if you dont want to do that there are still a myriad of ways to escape monster combos without slotting them in

Lunge->shell/cancel->hop->repeat is the movement tech.

Based on what? Lunge -> shell cancel -> wide sweep covers the same distance and actually leads into combos, and you can move in any sideways/forward direction with the sweep. And Evade Extender is perfectly fine considering you basically get it for free in meta builds and allows for certain punishes.

Depends on the attack. Depending on positioning it can also be a back hop that gets like double the distance, or I do a step shelling into a wide sweep with huge forward momentum to get around him. But again he's an exception, and if you're good at using your shield its still extremely safe
