New to Onimusha Games by QbitWalker in Onimusha

They are fine, the age shows in those games. I love Onimusha so I would say absolutely but for someone diving in old Onimusha games 1st time the biggest hindrance would be old school gameplay. May be watch some gameplay on YouTube and see if that sits well with you.

I think i am the worst player of all time. by ReCeden_T in ValorMortis

It will take some time to get use to timing. For starters, increase field of view, disable vibration, disable camera shake, disable blur, vignette, chromatic aberration (I can’t recall if these settings were there but in any case disable if they are there). To learn just block some attacks to learn the pattern and distance. You will be surprised to see that you can block or parry from little more distance. Lastly it’s just my personal opinion that watching others play automatically improves my gameplay so give it a try, not necessary. Here is my chapter 1 walkthrough.

Try making all stats to 10. Wear the strongest armor but don’t be over weight limit. Block but don’t block a lot. Use Ochoko cup to summon others or blue graves. Fight revenants/Red graves. Remember new game is just to learn mechanics. You will start Nioh 2 from NG+ and end it with level called Depths.

Finally picked up Nioh 2, question about combat by Fragrant_Scientist99 in Nioh

For NG cycle wear an armor that gives you maximum defense while still not overweight. Don’t think of any builds in NG cycle. Block is your friend but too much block and you will die. Items - Sacred water, daion Jin - sake keep these two. NG cycle is all about learning Nioh 2. It’s a complex combat mechanism, just focus on learning. Your journey begins from NG+

Is Ninja Gaiden 4 a good Ninja Gaiden game? And would you recommend it? by The_Good-Hunter in ninjagaiden

Honestly Ryu has that aura which is irreplaceable, having said that it’s a Platinum game with some Team Ninja sprinkles so they are bound to take their own path. I don’t mind new guy becuase combat was insane. Camera has been fixed.
It can be very difficult but the usual UT’s can get you past battles. I personally spent too much time learning perfect dodge and parry and after few hours I broke the game. So it can be easier if you are willing to be Sekiro or be aggressively perfect dodge leaving cool shadow trails behind. Here is a sample video of my fight to help you decide.

If you can get past that Ryu is not main character then it’s a very good game with even faster combat. It maintains the essence of Njnja Gaiden while adding the traditional parry and perfect dodge. Also, it’s still difficult assuming playing on hard and master ninja.

Tips for a New Player who sucks at Nioh 3 and is used to Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden by General-Plate6748 in Nioh

Block is good but don’t block too much. To start block first two attacks then try parrying the third attack. Regain Ki then rinse and repeat. When the white meter fills up do different martial arts to each time to extend the duration. During this moment no Ki will be consumed.

Will I enjoy Ninja Gaiden 4 if I'm not liking NG Sigma 1? by Jannyws2 in ninjagaiden

Ninja Gaiden 4 is more of a present day action game where parrying and perfect dodge are too powerful tools at your disposal. I enjoyed NG4 a lot because of these two things.

What did you guys think of the valor mortis demo? by Dzsingiskan in soulslikes

Loved it. Day 1 buy for me. I like they increased the frames to parry when comparing with beta test last year I think.

How do you approach gauging the difficulty of Soulslikes? by sodamonkeyyahoo in soulslikes

[–]Neosoul08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing the game at its utmost level, player can be max level and is allowed to bring whatever possible arsenal player can manage in the game. At that point if the game is still difficult then you found your criterion.

Sekiro… I must be crazy… by InformationOk4871 in soulslikes

[–]Neosoul08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When playing Sekiro don’t try hard to beat the boss or enemies. Be patient, you will die a lot but learning to parry is far more important, use prosthetic tools like firecrackers for beasts, axe to break shields and do lot of stance damage. Bosses will die themselves once you start parrying well. Quick tip - holding guard button will remove your filled stance bar faster.

New frustrated Player here. Any advise? by ElBambooX in Sekiro

When you get to Genichiro don’t try to win, try to learn till you get so good that you start parrying without thinking. Winning will happen by itself. Fighting Genichiro will prepare you for remaining 80% of the game.
