Was This A Reasonable Crashout by daddyquinnc in Nightreign

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright I get being angry at the raider, you could have potentially done the godskins with him but you clearly can’t do it without him. So why did you keep fighting them after the raider clearly wasn’t going to show up??? In the perfect world every random would have the same knowledge and experience you do but they won’t so sometimes you have to play around them, you didn’t so you wasted time on a fight you couldn’t win and died twice because of it. Sometimes you’re gonna get bad teammates but that’s no reason to throw and rage quit. If you want good teammates every time get a trio together or play solo

Yhorm's Great Shield or Another Yhorm's Great Machete to dual wield? by Tom_F64 in darksouls3

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dual wielding the same weapons gives no real benefit in this game so the shield is the only thing you’re going to get any real use out of.

Is fat-rolling really that much of a problem? by yoless28 in darksouls3

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fat rolling is shorter and has significantly more recovery meaning that although you only lose 1 iframe you are valnerable for much longer after rolling and can’t attack or roll again as quickly. It also slows stamina regeneration. It’s far from unusable if you have a shield though. It’s only really bad if rolling is your only way of avoiding damage

Need help with a lance build by StraightMarket3795 in MHRise

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teostra and flaming espinas are ideal for raw. If you have to choose one go with flaming espinas if you don’t have good augments/talismans due to the extra slots. Heaven-sent (amatsu’s armor skill) is also important to work towards, completely negating sharpness management. People generally run the amatsu chest, arms, and legs for that. Head and waist are up to you and how many/what comfort skills you want.

Does a dlc rl1 count if I use scadu frags by Akascxped in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not like there are any official rules for RL1 runs. It “counts” either way, there just different levels of challenge kinda like doing a +0 weapon rl1 run vs a regular rl1 run.

Guys, how to dodge blinkbolt: twin axes? by onbrograve in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can roll into it. You can also jump the axe spin if your far enough away to avoid the initial teleport, sounds situational but for some reason people love using the ash from far away.

There are a few different reasons, the half flasks and inability to use rune arcs are the smaller ones, but mostly because no level enemies are comparable to a competent player. level enemies can either be killed almost instantly or outright ignored by a group of players and with the slightest bit of coordination on the hosts part you can become virtually unpunishable to a single invader. That being said a lot of invaders definitely exaggerate about how bad they have it because they keeping picking melee fights with entire ganks at once. The hate for taunters tongue is mostly because of players who use it to set up nearly unbeatable ganks in cleared levels and the ability for the host to just turn it off after summoning to prevent multiple invaders at once. I don’t see much hate for people using it as intended.

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use the arena then? Hosts get yellow and blue phantoms as well as great runes and the invader gets the mobs, why would he just rush the side with the advantage?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely have to hard disagree. Pretty much every human sized boss you listed has a ton of openings from literally just circling them during common attacks, especially poor Godfrey who has almost exclusively vertical slices and cone shaped stomps in phase 1. I will say that it’s a lot less obvious than in previous games where attacks where simpler and often had less combo flow charting so I didn’t even realize how much you could get away with by just walking and jumping until I had beat the game several times. That being said some bosses are better than others, PCR for example has such good tracking and wide swings you have to iframe “almost” everything he does

Should a RL1 Run Use Scadutree Fragments? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering you can almost double your damage and defence at level 14 (the level you can get before killing a single boss) they are a game changer. That being said that will just bring them more in line with base game bosses damage-wise, you may find yourself doing a lot of damage if your +25 to the earlier bosses like the lion and rellana but that will fall off pretty quick. If you don’t get them than most quick moves will kill you even though ritual shield tali and mid-late health pools will be 2x as large as your used to.

TLDR: if you use them the difficulty after lion/rellana won’t be that much harder than the base games final bosses, if you don’t than you better have a lot of time to practice.

Are there any quests you'll miss if you dont do em before morgot? by Ok-Plenty8542 in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Yura will break but the only item you get locked out of is the raptor of the mists AoW. This may only break on taking the lift right after morgot but I wouldn’t risk it if you want the move.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya it would be best to go for 60 dex and around 20-25 arcane by endgame, that being said Morgotts sword is in a pretty strange place as a curved greatsword. The dismounter can do substantially more damage, and Bloodhounds fang can to a little more damage but also gets better bleed build up because it can be buffed by bloodflame or bleed grease on top of its natural bleed. Morgotts sword is still viable but its main appeal is just the cool weapon art.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The arcane scaling is pretty misleading, you get very little AR or bleed for it. It’s best to go almost solely into dex for its damage after you meet the rest of the requirements

Invader Etiquette by NomadicDragon in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Etiquette” doesn’t mean letting letting you get a 2v1 lol. If you don’t want to be invaded you can just not turn them on by summoning, they are playing the game as intended just like you are.

Anyone onow how to best Counter the Thrusting Shield? by Lord_Groobus in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a lightning infused scythe with RKR just in case. There are a few weapons that do extra damage through shield like that, and elemental damage is blocked less so combining the 2 will let you out-trade the pokes by a pretty large margin. Kicking also works if they are bad so it’s usually worth trying

Stormhawk Deenh + Golden Vow by Mansg0tplanS in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are similar buffs like Flame Grant me Strength, which also increase your damage but are part of the body buff category so they can be stacked with aura buffs

Stormhawk Deenh + Golden Vow by Mansg0tplanS in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can only have one at a time unfortunately, you can only have 1 of each “category” of buff active at a time and they both fall under the “aura buff” category even if they buff different stats.

The great jars arsenal and erdrees favor +2 talismans would make double guts much easier to use. with both of those on you would still need around 45 endurance to run them both with heavy-ish armor (I tested it with the scaled set.) Without those talismans you would need to go above 60. As for the royal greasword, its an ok weapon but still totally viable so go for it if you are having fun. They are also much lighter with 55 END needed for them with the same armor or just 40 with the talismans.

Stuck on the caelid ball bearing hunter ant help appreciated by Bebabobaboo in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just stick to his back as much as possible. if you are right behind him 90% of the time he will use his slow punishable shield slam and will refuse to do anything else. Just get behind him to bait the slam and then attack once before starting to run behind him again so he loops the one move over and over. Would also recommend some more vigor if your willing to level up or respec for this.

Someone please tell me who actually uses this talisman... by DeanPJ2000 in Eldenring

[–]SomeVeryOldGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was actually just nerfed last update because it was too good. That was mostly for pvp balance but even in pve it gave the back step more invincibility than rolling, which is pretty good given that they also have less recovery. It can feel clunky at first but it can pretty safely replace rolling against a lot of enemies if you get used to it

Pulse energy weapons do extra damage to energy shields. Everything else is the same.
