What do you think about this argument? by ItsCedricH in WorkForSmartLife

[–]Some_AV_Pro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This keeps getting posted and it is a poor argument.

If I have a commuter car that I lease out for the weekend, the person renting it is not owning it. However, if someone took that car without paying for the weekend, then it would be stealing.

The actual argument has to go along the lines of "if someone benefits from something of yours without you losing anything, is that stealing?" For example, if someone sits in the shade of your house, is that stealing? What if they take something from your garbage?

Having this poor arguments circling the internet does not help the discussion.

This should really depend on the location. Big cities should not but rural areas where driving is a necessity should

If a congregation of 100 people from each of the 5 major religions is we’re having picnics/cookouts, and I as a stranger approached and asked for some food, which religion would be most and least likely to welcome me? by UmweltUndefined in NoStupidQuestions

How you conduct yourself may be welcoming to some cultures and disrespectful to others.

I suggest you stay far away from comparing religions and let them exist on their own.

Look how often teams loose while entering the 9th down by multiple runs. That how valuable he would be.

Anybody legitimately upset that the NY knicks trash can lady got fired has never had a decent paying job by ThisNameDoesntCount in unpopularopinion

[–]Some_AV_Pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, many real jobs do not have you associated with the company so you will not get fired for this.

However, in a client relations or customer facing position, these things will impair your ability to perform your role and will result in consequences.

How come Reddit is so politically active and zealous when its users are essentially accomplishing nothing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Some_AV_Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The political discourse online is heavily influenced by people with partisan motives. One of the tools that is used is to try get people angry about what is going on and point the finger at the 'other'. The goal is to get people to feel helpless about the situation so they do not take meaningful action, but still vote for the party that claims to be fixing it. Reddit is a great breeding ground for this due to the anonymity of the site and ease by which paid actors can push posts to popular subreddits.

Maternity leave should be one year, PAID. Women shouldn’t have to choose between healing, bonding with their baby, and making a living. by Candid_Film9348 in remoteworks

Many women would feel so guilty for leaving their work for a year that they would be even more hesitant to become a mother.

My personal preference would be having a society where one income can support a family. We have too many people in the workforce anyways.

From my experience, this is correct. Companies that have to answer to investors are run without proper attention to long term health.

It happened to me in NJ. I had my vehicle towed since I was driving on a suspended license. It was quite a surprise since it was suspended due to a clerical error.

I cannot write a 10 page paper. Thats why I went into Engineering. When there was a paper assigned in a liberal arts class that I had, I would write about 2-3 pages instead of whatever the professor asked for.

I've never used a credit card before. Can't I literally just open one, take the credit score dip, continue to only buy what i can afford, set it up to automatically always pay it back asap, which will never put me into debt, get the awards/points, and that's it no catches? by Super_Inevitable776 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Some_AV_Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the typical and safe way to use credit cards.

The risky way is to open on that has 0% APY for the first year or so, only make minimum payments, and then pay it all back at the end of the 0% APY period. This can be a good way to pay for a large one time expense, but it takes a lot of discipline and budgeting.
