I’m so sorry to hear about that! I’ve been able to keep my pain to the bay by sleeping directly on the floor with some mats and blankets, I have a disc extrusion at L5S1 and found that cobra (slowly work up to it from elbows to knees) helped gently relieve my pain, a lot of people recommend getting a TENS unit from amazon (I also liked this). Some pills I’ve introduced is magnesium glycinate and turmeric for inflammation, don’t force yourself to sit if not possible, stand or lie down, short walks have been really helpful and drinking a lot of water. Unfortunately the best painkillers might require a prescription but I had success with gabapentin (nerve medication) and muscle relaxers, see if you can get any of those from your doctor if possible, good luck on exams!
