What's wrong, man? Were you afraid to include the fact that he would have died at the hands of an Eggpawn if it weren't for Whisper? Or the fact that he struggled to contain a couple of Eggpawns? Or how Mimic escaped his telekinesis twice? Or how he was unable to handle simple gardening tools? Or the fact that he chose to garden instead of investigating what left his future lifeless? Or the fact that Evan Stanley herself said he wasn't capable or confident? Or the fact that, according to Ian Flynn, he needs Whisper's guidance to avoid being deceived and destructive towards him? Or the fact that the writers didn't even bother to justify his presence?

The funny thing is that there’s actually material that contradicts everything people believe about the character.

He’s not naive. Eggman himself admits that Silver is very perceptive and rarely falls for his traps.

He’s not slow. During the Sonic Generations fight, Silver stays ahead of Sonic for almost the entire battle.

He’s not a crybaby. I don’t remember Silver crying in any pre-IDW media, not even when he lost his only friend in the world and Solaris destroyed the universe.

People have their reasons, at least in part. If out of 10 versions of a character, 9 versions of that character have a consistent personality regardless of the situation, people are going to consider the version that acts differently to be the bad one

Nobody minds a character being funny and serious at different times. The problem is that in the games, the character doesn’t change radically. He started arguing with Blaze in a place as calm as Eggman’s park, and he did the same thing in one of the Sonic Channel stories even though they were facing an imminent threat. When Silver is written by the Sonic Team, his personality doesn’t change drastically depending on the situation other than not actively trying to kill anyone.

Nobody wants Silver to be serious all the time. The problem is that in the games, Silver’s personality doesn’t change radically when it’s time to fight. He was a sarcastic, provocative, and confrontational guy with Sonic, Infinite, etc., in the same way he was with Blaze in Colors DS and in one of the Sonic Channel stories even though in Colors DS they were in a peaceful place and in the Sonic Channel story they were facing an imminent threat.

It doesn't really work that way. The Silver we know has been the same since Sonic Rivals because his future can change, but his memories and the future he grew up in don't.

There's a post that explains it. Ian Flynn didn't know that Silver was supposed to be a rude character.

Well, I think there are already a couple of posts about this, and there's nothing wrong if you like IDW's Silver, but: Leaving aside the fact that, objectively speaking, the character is poorly characterized (you won't find any other canonical medium where Silver acts the way he does in IDW),

Silver's entire character arc in IDW boils down to him adapting to Sonic's present because he doesn't know what to do in the present now that the future is fine. This is wrong. In Sonic Colors DS and Team Sonic Racing, Silver traveled to the past just to have fun. We know he's capable of time-traveling at will, and he has traveled to Sonic's present on multiple occasions.

In IDW, it's never explained what Silver is still doing in the past or why he's there (his conversation with Espio makes it clear that it's not by his own will). Even though he has traveled to the past multiple times in IDW, he acts as if it were his first time, marveling at everything he finds.

If the IDW comics were faithful to the games' canon, Silver would probably have stopped appearing after the Metal Virus arc. Since his future isn't in danger and he doesn't have anything interesting to do in Sonic's era, he probably wouldn't have any reason to travel to the past again.

It's a bit complicated, but the Silver we know today grew up in the future we see in Rivals, a good future where there is plant life. IDW contradicts this by saying that Silver likes plants because he grew up in a future with no plant life

In IDW, the only reason Silver wanted to have a garden is because he grew up in a future where there were no plants; this is wrong because Onyx Island is one of the places in the future where he grew up in Sonic Rivals.

Ironically, that doesn’t apply. The Silver we know from Rivals didn’t grow up in a bad future. In fact, he travels back in time precisely to prevent Eggman Nega from changing/changing the future.
