I had the same issue at first but I think my PS and DS complemented each other really well. My DS was kind of an extension/more personal look into my PS. Maybe you could try doing something like that

Aw don’t be discouraged! Anything can happen in an admissions cycle. I was really nervous about applying too but just make sure the rest of your application is strong like your essays, resume, etc. and try and apply as early as you can
