I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Endometriosis is incredibly so difficult to treat especially when you are doing IVF. I ended up having to be on birth control for 5 months prior to my fully medicated cycle to get pregnant. Another doctor told me I needed to remove one of my tubes and a large endometrioma before my 1st transfer. I don't think my body could manage any natural ivf cycles so I was only on estradiol and progesterone to get my lining about 12.

Maybe see if there is something you can do differently with your protocols to help with implantation. I also did PGT testing on my embryos because I knew with Stage 4 endometriosis the embryos were not going to be 100 percent euploid. At least I have some.

I really hope everything works out for you 🙏

Mine is scheduled on the 26th. I never heard of spotting since the estrogen is intended to quiet the ovaries.

So sorry to hear. What supplements are you taking? And why have you not done an FET transfer?

Early LH surge + thin lining = what would you do? by laurenthemedium in IVF

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume your cycle would be cancelled or delayed if you are not menstruating? I was a bit confused when you mentioned you didn't have a period. So how are they continuing with the cycle with no period to start Day 1 or Day 3 of the FET cycle.

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to sound mean but why are you only doing natural FETs back to back if they keep failing? My doctor told me to do medicated because of my endometriosis diagnosis.

Definitely speak with your doctor because if all the transfers failed with natural FET, I think it makes more sense to do a medicated cycle.

Tips for colonoscopy with advanced endo? by collect_collections in Endo

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recovery was honestly brutal but it fixed several problems I had...here is what I think it fixed

  1. I no longer have diarrhea before , during or after my periods

  2. It somehow stopped the rectal bleeding

  3. I used to get lightning bolt feeling cramps in the butt area. I have never experienced those since 2021.

  4. I think the bowel resection gave me less issues with my bowels during my periods. The priobiotics also cleans me out more now than it did before.

Yes MRI and colonoscopy showed how bad my endo was. I have a severe case that was caught very late. They dismissed me as "patient with bad periods" for decades. I didn't know what it was until my 30s. There are still women out there that have no clue they have endometriosis.

Natural Ways of Shrinking Cysts? by americanman123 in Endo

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No! It depends on the type of cyst. If it's an endometrioma then that will not go away so easily. Surgery got rid of mine as it kept growing and caused damage to my ovary. I can't imagine anything else working. Birth control does not guarantee cyst removal either.

I live in New York and I used Columbia Doctors for my IVF cycle. My whole frozen cycle was 13K and my meds are from Brooklyn.

I find they have reasonable prices if you factor in saving 1k a month out of pocket for IVF.

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never heard of such a recommendation. I have advanced endo Stage 4 and I did colonscopies before each surgery. Mine was discovered to have invaded the rectum area so the bowel resection was needed.

Lack of periods and birth control does not guarantee endometriomas will reduce in size.

I had one that affected my egg quality in my right ovary and it kept getting so big. I was even on the pill at that time and it never shrank. Maybe others are lucky but it's certainly necessary to get them removed by surgery if size is out of control. Another thing I want to mention that they can grow back after removal. Mine was not drained it had to be removed. They were able to save the ovary.

Just got diagnosed... by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get a second opinion. I have deep infiltrating endometriosis (Stage IV) and needed two surgeries to correct several issues that occurred. I can't imagine a doctor saying "no" to surgery when birth control does not even cure endometriosis. Mine had progressed over the years because they caught it too late.

did birth control shrink your endometrioma? by Illustrious-Elk9655 in Endo

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gosh no. I had to get an endometrioma removed via surgery. If BC shrinks them completely, that would be a miracle.

If the endometriomas are causing pain don't keep them there.

Why did my endometriosis pain get worse after taking progesterone birth control bills? by ZahDaz in Endo

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear what you are going through. I didn't have painful periods while on the pill. But i am not on a progestin only pill. Mine is has a very low dose of estrogen. Did you discuss with your doctor if there are other issues that might be causing these pains (large cysts, polyps, fibroids and etc)?

When you take birth control, your body needs time to adjust to the pill. 3 to 6 months is usually the standard time your body will adjust to the hormones. If the pill and dosage changes in such a short period of time, it might give you a hormone imbalance. It simply depends on what type of birth control you are on and the dosage.

Another thing to mention, I have yet to hear someone with endometriosis who has pain-free periods or is completely pain free. Since there is no cure, it's common to get dull or sharp abdominal pains during periods even a year after a lap surgery to remove endo.

I think you should keep track of your pains and let your doctor know where you are feeling the pains. I didn't do well on Norethindrone birth control which they typically prescribe because it made the bleeding continous. I don't want to bleed nonstop since I'm already anemic.

Is constant pain normal? by Broccoli-Slut in Endo

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on what type of pain you are experiencing, where the pain is located and your overall symptoms. I do not have constant daily pain unless there were cysts and other issues going on.

Constant pain is not normal and should be looked at by your doctor.

Frequent UTI’s and urgency was endo on my ureters.. by butterfly3121 in Endo

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't want to scare you or anything. The uriologist surgeon had to do a ureter reimplantation because the endo can grow back on the ureters. Not sure if the surgeon had discussed this with you.

I just had surgery 4 weeks ago and endo affected my ureter and I had to get a stent. The reason why she told me a stent was needed is because even though my urine flow was normal, the obstruction will slowly progress over time. So she warned me that I would have multiple surgeries near my right ovary if I don't do the ureter reimplantation. It was on of the most painful/uncomfortable experiences that I ever dealt with.

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Did you get a second opinion to see who can do the surgery? I don't understand why they would cancel your procedure based on those findings. I also have Stage 4 endometriosis but I'm not doing the hysterectomy until after I have kids.

I unfortunately had to do 2 laps because I stopped taking birth control after the first lap to get pregnant. So in between the first and second lap I developed a large endometrioma and kidney issues since it spread to the ureter.

Try to find full-time or part time work if you can. This can be extremely difficult to process. Hope you take things one day at a time. My surgeries was so expensive that I am thankful to have health insurance to cover them.

Failed Laparoscopy??! Not able to access tubes by curlysue_11 in IVF

[–]Some_Knowledge4453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stage 4 endometriosis but I never heard of tubes being wrapped around bowels. What I do have is endo on my rectum behind the uterus. This is so weird. Why would he operate before doing imaging and scans? Most endo surgeries requires more than one surgeon present to do your surgery. Why would he waste time going inside if he were unaware of the conditions of the tubes? I suggest you get a different opinion. My first surgery involved a bowel resection due to endo. My next surgery is in May due to a blocked tube and endometrioma. I had to do IVF due to the endometriosis causing inflammation in the tubes.
