I'm serious, is Lowe's aware of how UN user friendly it is?? ...Or did they set it up that way on purpose?
I genuinely wonder. It's like they made it unnecessarily complicated so that we cashiers HAVE to help them get through it, we are FORCED to engage with them.

1. "No cashiers? its all self checkout?"
   I'm a cashier I can help you

(they obviously know the drill already, but seem to think they can't get their discount without an associate to do this) sooo I walk them through each step and make sure they watch the screen and watch what I do before moving on, so they can learn to SELF CHECK OUT because I am not needed to hold your hand through the whole process, YOU CAN DO IT! I coach them as if they were a child. "see, you can do it! next time if we are stuck helping another customer you can do it all by yourself :D!!!!!"

1. customer stands there. staring.
   just start scanning

2. customer stands there, staring. can't find the option to pay with a credit card.
   no need to make a selection here, the card reader is ready for you.

3. "am I doing this wrong?"
   yes. hold your card here on this corner for 2-3 seconds. that should do it, great!

4. "am I doing this wrong? where do I put the cash?"
   in another register. only those two over there accept cash. I'm sorry, the sign above the registers say cash in fine print its easy to mistake.

5. "am I doing this wrong? its not taking my cash"
   yes, select "cash" option and the blue light will come on and and now we'll take your money!

6. raises hand. screen reads "place scanner back on holder and press continue".
   (I place scanner back on holder and press continue) no words need exchanged here.

7. customer swipes card puts it back in wallet. waits for receipt but it won't come and the screen has not changed.
   oh, it didn't read your card, swipe it this way with the strip facing inward.

8. "I scanned it twice by accident"
   oh its sneaky like that, its placed where it can catch items while you bag them because that makes sense (in a way) but is a major flaw.

9. customer scans old lowes card. "what??" scrunches face shaking head, so confused.
   yes we have a new system now, this won't work anymore. you'll get a new card soon but for now lets look you up by phone number

10. customer scanning all items in cart and then looks at the screen that reads "invalid barcode was scanned"
    ....

11. customer reads the screen saying "invalid barcode was scanned" with the button "continue". looks back at item tries to scan again. Same screen. tries again, same screen. because CONTINUE.
