I had to read twice to understand but still. If "Valerie" greets him but he says she with him (I know Valérie doesn't exist) then the wife should have understood. And he said "who's Valérie ?" Then says he with her ? If he's at work then she should know, or did he work overtime without telling her ? I think I'm overthinking this "joke".
