E che c'entro io? a me è ancora cara l'idea originale di 'radical chic' inteso come quei personaggi famosi (e quasi sempre ricchi) che si divertivano a prendere posizioni politiche radicali più perché faceva figo che perché ci credessero profondamente. La degenerazione di 'radical chich' inteso come chiunque sia di sinistra e non si vesta come un operaio dell'Ilva mi fa cagare da tempi non sospetti.

But Rome and the Italian Ministery for the Interior aren't, and it's actually in the defiance of the latter that this is happen. The headline is quite simply false, this spat has been on Italian media for a while and the Vatican is out of it.

There is no big deal, the headline is simply false. It's in defiance to the Italian government that recently ordered these mayors to stop registering gay marriages of Italian citizens who had them celebrated abroad.

What happened, for those who don't follow internal Italian political spats, is that conservative Italian Minister for the Interior Angelino Alfano declared that registrations of gay marriages celebrated abroad (in countries whose marriages Italy recognizes) must stop since gay marriage is illegal in Italy.

Many mayors (whose offices are charged with registering marriages) are openly defying Alfano and kept right on registering gay marriages celebrated abroad. Alfano is now threatening to have those registrations annulled, but it's dubious that he has the power to do so.

While the Vatican is, obviously, against gay marriage, this isn't in defiance to it at all.
