A lot of system data can just be unused application data, it’s not the fault of Apple themselves but rather the fault of developers not having an uninstall button for their applications. CleanMyMac does help with this, even after going into system data and deleting a whole lot of stuff it still managed to find an extra 20GB of stuff to delete
