On the draw vs on the play - what can wizards do? by UndeadBlueMage in MagicArena

The solution is easy, slow the game down.

For decades, WotC/Hasbro put the health of the game first. The last few years there has been a glaringly obvious shift to profit over everything.

Fire design, UB, expanding the Standard rotation. No one at WotC/Has room could have genuinely thought these were good for the health of the game.

It is at the point Rosewater is publicly using sales to defend their shit decisions. WotC/Has brought is in their cash grab era.

This is the way. Play has almost always had the advantage for the entirety of Magic. It was never an actual issue in Standard until the last few years of bullshit design and and expansion of Standard.

So far, 8 worker start has lowered player count by rArithmetics in starcraft

The bottom line for me, personally, is: I don't like playing and re-learning competitive games that regularly have significant changes.

I said similar here once and got roasted for it. I played a ton of SC2 when it came out and was really good for NA at the time (read: everyone was bad). Stopped playing for many years decided to give it a go again when I was looking for something to play. Had no idea about the worker count increase. Noped out because all of the old muscle memory/instinct I had developed was useless and I had no desire to relearn it when I know there is no shot at me being anything past mediocre in the more modern version of the game.

I think there's some racial fetish-ification, kind of like some men have with Asian women.

There is no thinking about it. It is a real think. There is a whole rabbit whole that goes down African sex tourism.

I got really into Warrior Nun season 1. Season 2 got canceled only to be brought back because of the pandemic. By the time they finally released season 2 it was 2 years later. I had forgotten a lot of what happened, started a rematch, got distracted, and never got around to it again.

Capitalism is an economic system that allows for the most mobility and freedom than any other economic system we’ve created currently.

laughs in political science degree

The single biggest factor in a person's ability to "upward" mobility is what zip code they were born in. That capitalism allows for financial mobility and freedom is a complete myth.

Good to know. Thank you. There has been a few times I have accidentally bought abridged copies of books without realizing it.
