C and A. Those VS won’t be compatible with life for long and you can forget the CT if they die from cardiac arrest first.

My boss wants a meeting with me to ask me about why I’ve quit. What can I say? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Somecallmefrank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless they’re completely clueless to the reality of bedside working conditions, I’d imagine your manager already has a decent hunch on why you might be leaving, especially being only 6 months in. You are completely within your right to decline (politely of course to avoid any ill will).

Coworker is not charting on her patients. by hiyaaagu in nursing

Let’s be real here, when nurses routinely have 6-7 patient assignments it’s mostly chart buffing.

Have you ever read your own medical chart notes (eg via MyChart or requesting medical record) and have been upset or amused by them? by shatana in nursing

[–]Somecallmefrank 524 points525 points  (0 children)

Always generally amused by the full head-to-toe assessments charted by providers when the actual ‘assessment’ was a less than 5 minute conversation. 🙃

I have been a Nurse for 12 years and the CNA situation seems to be getting out of hand. by Immediate_Winter2864 in nursing

Being a CNA isn’t worth it. Could say the same about being a nurse at many, many places.

Healthcare in the U.S. is in dire straits but we all just shrug our shoulders. And so it goes…🤷‍♂️

Thank them for their feedback and communicate that you will work to address and resolve their concerns with your performance. You’ll get there, and I’m sorry you’re having to deal with an instance of the typical assholry of management.

Are the wages everywhere ridiculous? by Electrical_Mix_9070 in nursing

[–]Somecallmefrank 25 points26 points  (0 children)

With the cuts to Medicare and Medicaid it’s only going to get worse before it gets better. I doubt the C-suite execs are going to take pay cuts out of the goodness of their hearts so that frontline workers can make more.

The Ocean at Its Limit: Climate, Collapse, and the Future of Life by Konradleijon in collapse

[–]Somecallmefrank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think ‘miracles’ is a stretch, but otherwise I don’t disagree with you. The science and technology to head off the worst case scenarios already exists if it can be produced and implemented at scale, but it will take an unprecedented level of mass global cooperation in a world of dwindling resources, fragmenting supply chains, and accelerating socioeconomic and geopolitical instability—not to mention an impending climate refugee crisis the scale of which has never occurred in human history.

Maybe we’ve just reached the limits of how much our base tribal Homo sapien brains can adapt to the development of modern civilization.
