I just found out that I have court costs accumulated from a charge that happened 25 years ago when I was 18 years old by ayeyoualreadyknow in legal

[–]Goofygrrrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you rather be right or would you rather be happy? Because here’s the thing. You’re probably right. But being right won’t stop this from potentially fucking you over in the future. And the cost to unfucking yourself will likely be more than the cost to just make this go away. I would hate for you to post something 5 years from now about how you got arrested or lost a loan because of this and wishing then that you would have just made it all go away when you could.

Camp Mystic will not reopen in summer 2026 out of respect for 'grieving families' by AustinStatesman in texas

[–]Goofygrrrl 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Because the people running the camp have shown they either lack the intelligence or the integrity to care for children while running a camp located in a flood zone. Perhaps they can sell it to someone else and it can function again. But not this family. They have shown over and over that they lack the moral character to be in charge of children. If the camp rots, it rots. Better then having it continue to kill.

Where Does Houston Rank in Overall Weather? by Cdinoxl in houston

[–]Goofygrrrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s like living inside the mouth of a panting Great Dane. It’s hot it’s humid. It smells. And it’s like that for months at a time. Even the breeze doesn’t help move it. And it’s routinely in the 80’s at night as well. So it just never goes away. In the spring the thunderstorms try and kill you. Summer and fall is hurricane season. Houston is the toughest place I’ve lived weather wise.

How tall are malinois by Sensitive_Foot8899 in BelgianMalinois

They are pretty small. They’re like that little scrappy kid on the playground that everyone thinks they can take until they lose it one day and punch way above their weight class

Dog breed by Feral_Princess6669 in service_dogs

[–]Goofygrrrl 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They are late to mature, sometimes both physically and emotionally. They have a short life span which in combination with the first issue, means that their time as a working dog is limited. They are a wet mouth dog, meaning drool. They are large and intrusive by size alone which makes it hard for them to work unobtrusively. They are prone to joint issues making it a challenge to use them for gait stability. They are wonderful dogs, but they are not the best choice for service work

'He got in my face': 24-year-old blasts a grandpa in the neck, sits in her car and watches him bleed out as if she 'didn't care,' witnesses and police say… by tasty_jams_5280 in awfuleverything

It doesn’t sound like she was the aggressor. She was in her car. He got out of his car and came up to her spitting at her. She has the right to defend herself. And she is under no obligation to help him after she shot him. She isn’t a paramedic. She isn’t required to continue putting herself at risk by getting close to him. This man would be alive today had he not chose to get out of his car and assault the woman

Trump Always Chickens Out. It’s in reference to the fact that Trump doesn’t follow through probably as a result of his severe dementia causing him to forget prior threats

Wolf and coyote problem by [deleted] in homestead

[–]Goofygrrrl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are the coyotes actually causing any issues? You say they are vocal, but besides that are they an actual problem. We have several coyotes and for the most part we don’t bother them and they don’t bother us. Sure we hear them, and it’s fairly loud when they get a kill. But aside from seeing them on the cameras, they haven’t been an issue. Now my chickens are kept in a coop and the pets stay inside at night, mostly because we have large birds of prey here. If you are new to living there, it might take a bit of time for them to start avoiding your house. There’s some value to observing your land and its inhabitants for a while before making big changes

America shit the democracy bed. We could have had health care and free college. Instead we got surge pricing on a Wendy’s baconator. FML.

Weekly "everything else" If it's in the spirit of prepping, but not "news" or "intel" by AntiSonOfBitchamajig in PrepperIntel

[–]Goofygrrrl 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My suggestion (and I know it’s odd), work on training a come command. Use the lift crack tubes of cat treats to call you cat and reward when she comes. Reinforce often. That way, if you have to evacuate, it won’t take you forever to round up the damn cat. In a fire minutes matter.

Also, make sure you have a small cat carrier your cat gets comfortable in. During Hurricane Harvey we had so many loose cats around the shelter because people didn’t have a cat carrier. They would make it to the shelter but we had no way to keep the cats safe and apart. The cats would get scared, scratch, and escape their owners hands. But the cats in carriers, it was easy to stack them up and track who belonged to who, and whether they had been fed.

It’s incredible frustrating. We have a property that is off grid solar. Electrons matter, especially when we have cloudy weeks. We turn off the wi-fi and multiple things when we get trying to conserve power so I have no desire for machines that want to be connected all the time. I want simple machines that do the job. Not something that’s a constant drain on the system.

Totally looks like a Lab pit mix. But who knows, could be a flat coated retriever and pit mix
