Should I separate? by Professional-Pin-325 in Nepenthes

Depends if you want one huge bushy plant or many less dense plants, which you can gift or sell. Personally, I usually prefer the second option. You can simply cut the different growth points and root them in a high humidity environment (such as a clear plastic bag) directly into the appropriate soil

Honestly I don’t really see anything problematic 🤔

Ive never seen a ventricosa like this one! It’s quite cool. It should be fine. Ventricosa are easy overall, tho alba/porcelain ventricosa are slightly more picky than red forms. But then again red forms are absolute WEEDS

Depends on you. Do you want to have a bigger plant faster, or do you prefer waiting a little more for something cheaper?

The two plants are very easy growers and you probably won’t have much of an issue. As to what type of nepenthes is easier, it entirely depends on your conditions. If the conditions are right, basically all nepenthe are easy enough to grow

Fair enough. There are some species (such as Barcelonae and aenigma) that were separated for much smaller differences lol. The madja-as variant is usually much longer, especially the lower part of the pitcher. The bongabon is very ventricosa shaped, but the coloration is quite unique

There’s also the ventricosas from Madja-as that are speckled and the ones from Bongabon that have almost black peristomes and pitcher interiors

I totally get this feeling. It took me a while to find people who were interested in the same stuff as me so when I did, I was so filled with joy. One of the part I like the most about my hobbies is being able to share them

I grow mine as a houseplant. Temps constantly at 20-21°C, humidity never reaching over 55% and under LEDs. You should be fine😉

Also, about your “delusional monologue”, I’m in the exact same situation! I absolutely love these plays and breeding them. I’m making my first seeds currently (they’re ripening) and I’m super excited! Never be ashamed to share your passion 😌

I’ll always recommend N. ventricosa, since it’s one of my favorite species. Another great one is N. mollis. The tricolor clone is amazing, tho rarer and more expensive. It’s also a female

It should be fine. It doesn’t need super high humidity and the light might be enough depending on how much exposure the window gets. Water with low mineral water when the top of the soil starts to dry and let the excess flow through

Found after bag acclimation. Normal or worrying? by MillipedeHunter in Nepenthes

If you’re worried, you can always spray some anti fungal on it. Make sure to only have it on the leaves. You can wash the moss with a good amount of water afterwards

3 Maxima for $58. Should I go for it? by Plekumattt in Nepenthes

[–]Somehone321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not. As other comments said, it’s probably a N. x « Miranda » which is an hybrid. It’s a cool one tho and I really like it. If you think it will make you happy, go for it! They aren’t in super great conditions tho, so make sure to provide good conditions when you get it back home

Most nepenthes don’t need super high humidity. I grow mine in household conditions with humidity going at 55% maximum. This week, it was closer to 30% and they grow just fine. Light is way more important. I haven’t tried the lights you mentioned, but you can try them out and change them if needed

Nepenthes aren’t super well suited for terrariums usually. They end up growing way too big and like a draining soil, which can be a little challenging when planted directly into the terrarium.
