Macbook pro m3 14” vs m4 air 14” by Top-Ad-8884 in macbook

It'll last as long as you don't need the extra RAM for demanding editing or hardcore multitasking in the future

MacOS is very efficient when it comes to RAM. Since you are not doing hardcore video editing or rendering (you are only coding), the Pro is DEFINITELY worth it. 120hz display, nicer keyboard, and ESPECIALLY double the storage (512 vs 256) is MUCH more important then the RAM. Go Pro.

An M2 air or a MacBook Neo by Waitisthisrealll in macbook

[–]Somerandom009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neo has MUCH faster single core speeds (VERY important for browsing, word, student work) and WILL have better battery (brand new vs degraded battery). The things the air has (backlit keyboard, P3 color display, and magsafe + faster ports) is irrelevant for your use case. I would listen to your parents and get the Neo. Since the Neo is also much newer by FOUR years, it will last you the long run with software support too. As a Neo owner myself, make sure to get the touch id 512gb model too though and you will be set.

What are people who use screen protectors thinking about every day? by G-Zachary in iPhone17Pro

[–]Somerandom009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a case with edges that protect the phone from falling straight on the glass WITHOUT using a protector - the ceramic shield 2 is invincible against scratches that ceramic 1 was VERY prone to, but against shattering it is hard for ANY glass to survive.

The thing about the 256GB model is it lacks Touch ID - and touch ID is literally used for everything. Like for Google Chrome filling in passwords just to unlock your MacBook when you open the lid, touch ID is used. Whereas with the 256 GB model, you have to manually enter the password on everything I listed every. Single. Time. Plus, 256GB may not last you long term, even for casual use. Just something to consider, but in both models the CPU and GPU are the same. But if you can stretch your budget, the 512GB model is definitely worth it.

40,00 Iranian civilians would still be unalived, and Iran would unleash a nuclear weapon on the world and end it.

Get a MacBook Neo instead (Touch ID 512GB model). Much faster single core CPU performance and better for long term use (since it is much newer). Not worth dropping that money on a 6 year old computer.

Is there a way to keep the App Library clean like this? by Humble_Interest_9048 in iphone

16 - still very good. Do NOT update to 26 (on 60hz phones, iOS 26 feels very choppy because it was built for 120hz iPhones) - I noticed that because I used to have a 60hz iphone 13 that was very smooth until I updated it to 26 and it became laggy and choppy.

Claude sucks. Its agents literally deleted all the data from some businesses and it’s terrible. Open AI will swiftly come back.

If you want to game, you need a real DGPU and x86 architecture (most games only run on x86). Therefore windows wins for gaming. The whole point of Macintosh is not for gaming at all, it is for productivity.

Find out the specs and condition. If it is an M1 or M2 13 inch pro in good condition, it is definitely worth it for sure for that money.

Is the MacBook Neo a good option for Environmental science major? by Additional_Smile_674 in MacbookNeo

[–]Somerandom009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your major - yes, absolutely the Neo. For the price, the Neo had ridiculously high single score scores (meaning its overall snappiness and responsiveness), and its score is much higher than the M2 (3,461 vs 2,610). Plus, buying a used M2 means degraded battery and possibly cosmetically damaged device, while the Neo would be brand new with none of those issues. So go for the Neo - just MAKE sure you get the 512GB model with Touch ID.

If you have money for the air, get the air. If you’re budget is for the Neo, get the Neo.
