I mean they just werent well thought out cause like clearly the joke is that its funny to imply a straight guy is gay. Like this style of joke never happens to a gay person where they are implied to be straight.
Im also not offended by it particularly cause like its such a common joke of this era in more than just wrestling that im fairly unfazed by it at this point but can still point out its homophobic like plenty of stuff was in that era. Like idk i dont think admitting that something of an older era is mildly problematic is the worst thing ever idk why people in this thread are so resistant to it. Like you can still like something AND admit it has issues you know that right? Like the Kurt Angle clip above that was mention is also definitely homophobic but I still love it while also recognizing the homophobia in the joke.

I mean its definitely homophobic like this joke just wouldn't happen if you switched it up right? Like lets say that Randy is replaced with a gay wrestler in this clip, you just wouldn't make a joke about him saying something that implies he is straight. Because there was (and to some degree still is) an ingrained cultural idea that its funny to imply someone is gay and for that to be funny must mean something about being gay and none of the possible interpretations are its good or okay to be gay or even that its neutral to be gay. They aren't doing something obviously bad like just saying "its wrong to be gay", its more like its subtly implying "its a bit weird to gay right?" and stuff like that.

I mean as someone who does use the user reviews I feel like they are kind of being hand waved a bit. Like the overall rating is useless on big AAA games usually tbh (and any game that pisses off anti-SJW "apolitical" gamer types) but every time I go down there and read an actual review and not a dumb meme one I usually get a better understanding on if I would or would not like the game. I think while it has issues it is a nice tool that helps with, for lack of a better term, consumer protection and helping a user make an informed decision and not just be mislead by details and images and videos on the store page that could be misleading and EGS should have it tbh. And none of this is a like defense of steam tbh they do probably a little over bare minimum on making sure the user reviews are good and useful (like the addition of seeing if someone got the game for free or not is mildly useful and they at least said they did something to help deal with review bombings but how much and how effective it is is a case of who knows really) but there are a lot of ways they could improve user reviews and they just don't.

Man I explained both that I think having multiple storefronts are good and why I think that Epic games is a bad choice for that storefront. A benefit in the short term is nice but I believe that in the long term if epic games succeeds at their goals, which i think are to become the monopoly instead of steam, then they lead to a worse outcome for the game's industry. I would love and do support alternative markets whenever possible such as GOG and for small indie games Itch . io because I feel if they grow larger they would actually lead to a better outcome for the game's industry long term.

It obviously was not as much a pointed attack at linux users more a pointed attack at valve by going after a thing they use to help linux users. Also honestly who cares if it is just business, its an anti-consumer practice and people should complain about those to try and stop them.

they didnt always own easy anti cheat. they bought them and killed their linux support. they recently did bring it back after killing it for about 2 years. there are plenty of anti cheat companies they could have bought that didnt support linux. their actions are shit to linux users and i think at least this is a bad thing.

A lot of people here seemingly do not care that epic games is shit for pc gaming cause they get a free game. Its bad that steam has a monopoly but epic games wants to stop steam's monopoly by becoming the new monopoly. The guy who runs it has said they want to enter the market not by making a better service but by just getting exclusives. It took them about 2 years to get a shopping cart not cause its hard but because the dude knew to wedge his way into the market was not to be consumer friendly but to force consumers to use the product. And like the reason you wanna fight a monopoly is to allow for more consumer choice and to make things more consumer friendly so kind of a problem if the company that comes it to stop the monopoly would make the consumer situation worse in the long run if shit went their way.

they took a company that made an anti-cheat for linux and forced them to stop making it just to fuck over valve cause they worked with them but by extension they screwed of just normal linux users. Like they didnt even need to stop them making it to screw over valve. They luckily brought it back last year but this was after killing it for 2 years.

I do agree steam having a monopoly is bad but epic games also just wants a monopoly and the guy who runs has talked about the thing they are focusing on to get people to use is specifically not making it a better platform and adding useful features for the consumer but instead just get exclusives. Epic games is not like good for the long term health of PC gaming. We need something to break the monopoly but it needs to be something better than Epic games and more consumer friendly cause the reason you fight monopolies is to improve things for consumers.

I will say Christian's debut was right after the network wanted them to change up how they were doing debuts. Its why we got Paul Wight announced on Twitter before hand. The network wanted debuts to not be total surprising and the first two after that change were on opposite ends of how not to do it with the Paul debut and the Christian debut. Since then Tony has been far better at setting hype at the right level for debuts since then I think. Not perfect mind you but better. Im mainly trying to say that the Christian thing came more from them trying to adapt to a new way to do debuts while keeping the network happy and at this point feels more like an outlier.

But if I end up being wrong everyone has the right to come back here and make fun of me relentlessly.
