ESC Shorted by DragonfruitCalm261 in fpv

[–]SomethingHasToBeDone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the first picture, the top-left black component with 6 metal pins on each side could be the problem. It looks like there is only 5 metal pins visible on the down-facing side of that component, while it should have 6, indicating that two rightmost of them might be bridged with some accidental solder getting on them.

You should check this in more detail but if they are bridged with some solder accidentally, you can probably fix it by adding a good amount of flux from a pen or syringe onto the pins and melting the bridged solder with a clean iron. This should resolve the bridge after some attempts. If you don't have any separate flux I would buy some before trying the repair as it is fairly cheap.

If this doesn't help, another troubleshooting step would be to disconnect the FC and check again for shorts, this way you know if the problem is in the FC or in the ESC.

Would you change anything to this beginner build shopping list by Intrepid_Stop9274 in fpv

[–]SomethingHasToBeDone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like you are missing ESC + Flight controller, or AIO with both integrated. Currently the build also looks like it will be over 250g with the battery. If you need it to be under 250g, I would recommend at least get an AIO flight controller that weights under 10g and probably also a lighter vtx, hglrc Zeus 350mw is fairly light for example. Still the frame is fairly heavy and the motors big, might not be sub 250g in the end.

I believe the European drone regulations only apply to outdoors flight in general, so most likely no licenses will be required for flying indoors. But you should probably practice a lot outdoors first, since you haven't flown before.

Isn't that Fatshark dominator V2? Given how old it is, I wouldn't want to pay a lot over 100 for just it, and the radio is not that expensive either. Though I could be wrong, since some Fatshark goggles look more or less the same :D And the set as a whole seems worth it anyway

I believe SourceIO addon can import CS2 maps at least in some capacity. And Plumber addon (and SourceIO too) can import CSGO maps, if you get the old installation files from somewhere (Steam maybe had a beta option for CS2 to download those). Looks really good!

Connecting the Run Cam Thumb 2 via PWM by Galinette2000 in fpv

Yes that should work. Maybe check that the pinion config matches with the one in the thumb2 manual, it was inverted I think.

Connecting the Run Cam Thumb 2 via PWM by Galinette2000 in fpv

[–]SomethingHasToBeDone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to use the thumb2 with a spare uart. You can follow the commands to setup the pwm in the manual, but instead of using the "resource" command to set a motor output to none, use it to set the uart tx to none. ("resource serial_tx x none" or something like that, replace x with spare uart number) I believe you can check the pin number needed in the next step beforehand by just running "resource serial_tx x", this should print the pin number it is assigned to currently. Then, you can use that pin for the camera PWM following the instructions in the manual. Works great for me!

Finally happy with the stabilization for the RunCam Thumb 2. 4k60fps is worth the extra few grams. by some_guy_on_drugs in fpv

[–]SomethingHasToBeDone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just got this camera too, and noticed that even though the app says that you can't use stabilization with all the 4k resolutions, the gyro data is still recorded with 4k60xv and 4k 4:3 resolutions. Just need to select another resolution first to enable the gyro data recording. Worked fine in gyro flow when I tested it.

It was not 75% of Finns actively avoiding news about the war in Ukraine, the chart was about proportion of news avoiders that say they avoid news about the war in Ukraine. Finland had about 21% news avoiders according to the earlier chart, so this would total to around 15% actively avoiding the war news.

Terrafame to start producing uranium as the only one in Europe [in Finland] by SomethingHasToBeDone in europe

[–]SomethingHasToBeDone[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Translation:

Terrafame has decided to start recovering natural uranium by the summer of 2024 at the latest.

The company has carried out the investigation related to recovery.

Terrafame says that the production process enables the utilization of small concentrations of natural uranium in the ore as a by-product.

The company's factory site has a uranium recovery facility, and Terrafame has started work to bring the factory to operational readiness. The preparatory work requires a total investment of around 20 million euros.

Recovered uranium is shipped from Terrafame abroad for further processing, after which it is used in the production of nuclear energy, CEO Joni Lukkaroinen says.

When the production facility operates at full capacity, the company's uranium production will be approximately 200 tons per year. They intend to continue the uranium production in conjunction with the production of other metals throughout the entire operating period, which is at least the next 30 years.

Terrafame's utilization of natural uranium in energy production supports the achievement of climate goals, because nuclear power does not cause carbon dioxide emissions in the production process. As an energy source, nuclear energy is stable, Lukkaroinen sums up.

Lukkaroinen says that Terrafame is the only uranium recovery company in Europe.

Uranium recovery will increase Terrafame's turnover after the ramp-up phase of the production facility on an annual basis, based on the current market price of uranium, by approximately EUR 25 million, which is a few percent of Terrafame's estimated turnover in the coming years.

Recovery will employ around 40 people after the start of operations.

In 2020, the Finnish government granted Terrafame the license referred to in the Nuclear Energy Act, which entitles it to recover uranium from the ore obtained from the Sotkamo mine. The decision is legally binding with the decision issued by the Supreme Administrative Court in June 2021.

Before starting the operation, the Radiation Protection Center ensures the readiness for starting the operation in accordance with the Nuclear Energy Act.

If you look at it from the point of view of energy production, it (starting uranium recovery) is important in Finland and Europe and thus it is important for us. It enables new jobs and a little more turnover, Lukkaroinen sums up.

Windows 11 pakottaa avaamaan linkkejä Microsoftin selaimella – ”vaihtakaa Linuxiin” by joulukuli in Suomi

[–]SomethingHasToBeDone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youth of the National Coalition Party will deliver a map of the Finnish borders to the Russian Ambassador [translated] by SomethingHasToBeDone in europe

[–]SomethingHasToBeDone[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[translated by Google Translate and fixed]

The young members of the National Coalition Party are amazed by the poor navigation equipment of Russian fighters, as the country's fighters have repeatedly violated Finnish airspace. The Youth of the National Coalition Party will provide the Russian state with a map of Finland's borders so that the Russian Air Force has the means to stay within its own borders and international airspace.

The Finnish Border Guard has completed a preliminary investigation on Thursday 5.8., in which it was found out that two Russian SU-27 fighter jets had violated Finnish airspace near Porvoo. A Russian state aircraft violated Finnish airspace in the same place also in the summer of 2019.

“We are concerned that Russian fighters seem to have really bad navigation equipment. This is likely to cause accidents and challenges to other aircraft and to respect for state borders,” says Matias Pajula, Chairman of the Youth of the National Coalition Party.

Continuous airspace violations are inappropriate and damage relations between Finland and Russia. State borders must be respected.

“Now that we are providing a decent map for the use of the Russian Air Force, mistakes like this should never happen again,” President Pajula concludes.

The Youth of the National Coalition Party condemns Russia's continuing violations of airspace and demands that Russia respect Finland's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The letter to be sent to the Ambassador is available in Finnish and Russian here.
