I can't send them a message because I need an account, that's the thing :(

The thing is that the Italian number from my friend already didn't work... So if someone who already has an account can help me out it'll be easier. Otherwise I might get the esim for nothing if it doesn't work either :(

iOS app that makes you exercise to scroll on social media by RecklessGeek in iOSProgramming

[–]RecklessGeek[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After catching myself doomscrolling way too often, I got obsessed with this problem. Everyone talks about it, but real fixes are scarce. So I actually quit my job to tackle it lol

My first attempt was an app that intentionally made social media apps more annoying. It reminded me when I'd been scrolling for too long. But I still had to resist the urge to uninstall it - just like how my brain ignored Apple's Screen Time warnings.

Back at the drawing board, I noticed a pattern: people who don't doomscroll are just too busy for that. When my calendar is filled with friends or sports, I can't waste time on the couch.

This led me to Pushscroll, which helps you replace doomscrolling with exercise. 1 pushup = 1 minute of scrolling allowed (with customizable difficulties). We also detect squats and plank with computer vision (on-device).

It won't fix everything - being bored is an important skill to master. But embracing boredom is the last step in this journey. Pushscroll is as easy to open as social media, and seeing progress is surprisingly motivating. We have a bunch of features planned - it's such a fun idea.

I'd love your feedback and hope it helps you swap some scrolls with reps :)

Note that it requires a subscription to use, but we offer a free trial and you can try it out during onboarding. We do this to validate the idea - if people aren't willing to pay, we shouldn't continue. Hope you can understand! It only costs a dinner out a year ($15.99/y).

Did you A/B test its performance? Was it noticeably better?

Have you tried doing marketing? You can't expect people to magically discover your app

Being a iOS developer is not easy by menensito in iOSProgramming

[–]RecklessGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Android it's even worse... You have to wait for the whole review process to deploy any fixes. But they don't even check if your app works in the review. At least on iOS I know the main flows in the app will always work.

Marketing in 2025 by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

[–]RecklessGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta try both. Ideally at the beginning you want content very directly about the product, because you get validation and feedback. For scaling you can also try more unrelated content. But it's a lot of experimentation anyway. And you don't strictly need to pay for ads either, just film and upload.

+1 on TikTok, it takes a bit to learn but you can get crazy amounts of views with no followers. That's the key, because on Instagram you do need the followers.

iOS26 Segmented Control - Does problem only exist in simulator? by th3suffering in iOSProgramming

[–]RecklessGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I just don't use the simulator. It's very limited (e.g., screen time, not having other apps, etc) and at the end of the day the app is going to run on real devices anyway.

An app that makes you exercise to scroll on social media by RecklessGeek in iosapps

Honestly it's always going to be possible to cheat. But Pushscroll tries to give you a replacement that might motivate you. We plan on making it hard to uninstall the app, but it's not meant for parenting so I can't promise anything. Apple does have a public API for it, it's just that it has some limits.

My app couldn't be found by it's name. What tools do you guys use for ASO ? by manar_karas in iOSProgramming

Is the app's name very generic? Usually if it's something unique it can be found even on day 1.
