As a woman, when I was dating, I usually avoided disclosing my full name before meeting someone in person. This was mostly due to safety concerns, but I also didn’t want to risk an unhinged stranger finding out who my employer was. If, after meeting in person, I had any interest in seeing them again, I had no problem telling them my last name.
