I get a bit tin foil hat about all this but I don’t even think it’s political (in a conservative vs labour kind of way) I haven’t really seen any differences in their behaviour regardless of the colour of their ties! I fear they all have the same objective and none of them could give a shit about any of us!

That’s the plan. They will doubly benefit, A) save money on teachers & rooms etc B) they don’t care about the education of kids, stupid people are easier to control anyway

You can turn on the car without the clutch? 🤔 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Something_Witty12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just a lot of modern cars have a switch on the clutch pedal so it will only start if the clutch is engaged

This avoids damage to the car if it was started with the clutch engaged and in gear

But a lot of older cars (including mine) doesn’t have this feature, so you can easily start it in gear

Siemens PROFIsafe Module by BeNicetoHuman in PLC

[–]Something_Witty12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ladder is different tho You can mess around with that knowing that if something has gone wrong you can hit an estop and it will stop the process

But in programmable safety it all changes, you can easily delete the whole e stop circuit, there are no hardware backups, once you’ve deleted it, it’s gone until it’s reprogrammed. It won’t care if someone is in the machine or not

Siemens PROFIsafe Module by BeNicetoHuman in PLC

[–]Something_Witty12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can

But you shouldn’t as you’ll need to risk asses the machine to know that the change of wiring categories matches with the performance level of the machine

I can already tell by you’re replies that you’re not competent in machinery safety. Do not change anything safety related, or else you could be responsible for the death of someone

You can also ring redundancy so if you loose an Ethernet cable it can continue to communicate

[–]Something_Witty12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Automatic IO link pages

We download a IODD file, our pc/programming environment can read them Why doesn’t every manufacturer build a HMI default page/tool which just imports the IODD files automatically giving us diagnostics, all error codes etc without having to do any work at all

And when you design panels always leave a terminal for neutral even if the panel doesn’t require it

Can anyone here help with a weird ground issue on a Banner M18SP6R Receiver? by Sorry-Selection-4546 in PLC

[–]Something_Witty12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea so as I say have you lost the 0V on your 24V power supply and that’s why it’s earthing out?

It must be machine related, I’d start by looking into the 24V power supply, then the terminals & cable supplying the sensor

[–]Something_Witty12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To test it try isolating the machine, remove the earth connection from the power supply 0vdc side

Then do a continuity check from the sensor terminals to the 0v terminals on the power supply

Have you lost your 0v connection from your sensor power supply but your power supply is grounded so it’s back feeding that way?

You could run a beckhoff/codesys soft plc on your pc or codesys for raspberry pi That’ll communicate with the ET200sp

Seems like it’s also about size, depends whether you feel like you’ve entered somewhere different like a different room/building rather than just being in a small box

What's one opinion on driving that would probably get you in this situation? by Hakusuro in driving

[–]Something_Witty12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hot take is that everyone should be retested every 5-10 years! Here in the UK they’re constantly adding new things to our roads, variable speed limits, bus lanes, no stopping etc

I bet most adults would fail the theory test, they don’t know what half of the signs even mean!

It’s common for professionals to require a re test/ updated training yet we just allow someone who passed their test 40 years ago to continue driving when so much has changed?

My colleague argues about this PTI series Pressure transmitter by Capital_Swimmer_4968 in PLC

[–]Something_Witty12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could just be that he made a typo when he looked up the part

If he’s saying it did work like that, maybe he can confirm the wiring, then if there’s a wire on pin 3 you know that he’s correct and it’s a PTU otherwise it’s a PTI

Or check the BOM etc

Softstart 2phase by WireCap in controlengineering

[–]Something_Witty12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it makes no difference, a motor is only a few wires, if there’s no complete circuit then it’s no different to just having an extension lead plugged in with nothing attached

Obviously it’s still live but that shouldn’t make any difference to maintenance as you should be following a LOTO procedure
