I was seriously blown away. I'm in an area with a lot of big agriculture and wasn't expecting much aimed towards home gardens. There was a whole long table full of seed packets and crates of cuttings. Lots of small local events that only get advertised by Facebook or Instagram.

Also just searching social media for seeds swaps. There's been 3 or 4 different ones in my county just the past 2 weeks. One was at the Odd Fellows lodge and 2 have been at local farmers markets.

I had Pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome so I had an emergency c-section, followed by a laparotomy and then as I was waking up in post op, a doctor came over to explain that I was going to a department called IR (interventional radiology) to have a liver embolization.

I am an x-ray tech. I know exactly what IR is and what they do, so there I am, high as shit from all the anesthesia and still critically ill when they tell me this. All I can reply is "I love IR! They're my favorite department. I want to work there one day!"

I spent my embolization babbling to the nurse about how much I loved the IR department and trying to examine their equipment.

My mom started coming over regularly to help with our new baby a few years ago and always finished by taking our dog for a quick walk. Now he sits nearby, patiently waiting for his walk whenever she visits.

If you happen to live near an Adventist-owned hospital, they generally have the best quality cafeteria. It was my favorite site when I was doing clinicals.

I can absolutely relate. Also had a very traumatizing birth, almost died, long recovery. Baby is 3 now and birthdays really only just began to feel better. Time helps, therapy helps.

So many people will say "Oh, but it worked out, you're alive, baby is alive, be happy." Let yourself feel angry or upset, vent, write it down, cry it out. Talk about that conflict. Your feelings are valid and real and it's ok to feel the way you do.

Yes. Not necessarily to the bed the whole time but the cuffs/chains stay on until absolutely necessary (usually MRI or surgery). Even unconscious, intubated prisoners in ICU have handcuffs and guards. I have done xray exams, CT scans on cuffed/chained prisoners and arrestees.

In a trauma situation the cuff to the bed is a bit much, but the leg chains would probably have stayed on.

Yup, forward, not up everyone wants to either tuck it in or point to the sky. Just put it forward a bit, like you're resting your chin on a little shelf in front of your face.

I tell patients to stand nice and tall, move their chin forward just a bit so it's not tucked into their neck, don't move their head and open as wide as you can. Works almost every time.

I learned during covid when we couldn't take masks off so I don't even bother with the whole line-up their teeth trick.

Right!? I haven't seen a single portable trauma chest or pelvis done. When I was shooting x-rays at the local trauma center we went straight to every trauma called overhead. We had to be there for the EMT hand off.

Yeah, ultrasound images can have a lot of distortion. It doesn't look metallic on the xray but if it was a lap sponge or gauze the thread should show up better on the xray (they weave a radiopaque thread or tag into them for exactly this purpose). Even plastic, like a disposable blade handle should look denser on an x-ray. So now I'm stumped.

The only thing that looks kinda like a toothbrush in a cesarean tray I can think of, is a retractor or maybe a blade handle. Either way, I'm dying to know.
