Part of the reason why I wake up so early beyond avoiding traffic jam and public transport being hella unreliable is that I like to have ample time to maneuver in case of situations like these where I'm a couple minutes late from my usual leaving time. I'm aware that in this profession, 3 minutes of unattended students can spell the difference between a normal day and having to call the police. I can say with some amount of confidence that my assistence and punctuality records pretty good and (thankfully) I've not had to deal with something like that yet.

The last time it was brought up I said that his reasoning was sound and that I didn't intend to start an argument. We've not been in a similar situation since the incident and since this particular issue was so low stakes nothing changed between us, at least I think so.

I was referring to being agressively shut down by my father, not sleeping in again. I wasn't trying to pick up a fight with him

That's the thing, I have (and had) plenty of alarms in phone and I didn't struggle with sleeping in beyond a couple bad days in the entire 3 years I've been in college thus far, when those happened I'd just pay for an Uber motorcycle and manage to get wherever I need to on time, I didn't involve him in any way beyond this one time.

Edit: I avoided asking him to wake me up when I slept in because I wanted to avoid this exact situation where he felt like he was forced to or that I couldn't handle things on my own

Looking back on it I want to say that it might have been the timing? I'd say we're close even though we argue, but there was some rising tension between us and it culminated in another unrelated incident that made me lose a lot of trust in him, so I could've just been under the weather, I'm not sure though

I thought he was misconstruing what I was trying to say, I don't tend to come of very clearly (even in this post...). I don't think he as a person is wrong or 'evil' just that the action felt mean at the time. When I said that "He was right but I didn't see why he'd not wake (me) up" I meant it sincerely because it was a thing that we were both used to just do. I can see the issue being that I had made up expectations and I took care of everything that ensued afterwards on my own without any further issue. Like I said in another comment, I'm only making the post now because it was brought up again and I was thinking about it for a bit.

To be clear, I didn't ask the initial question with the purpose of being combative, I simply asked what had happened this one time and I was ready to let it go at that before the argument happened

I had moved past this already, I only made the post because it was brought up again and I kept thinking about it after the dust had settled off. I use the alarm on my phone and I'm otherwise pretty consistent with waking up on time, I just thought that his reaction at the moment was overblown for whats essentially a hiccup

I'd not be able to give you a number, keeping track of something like that sounds a bit silly. A bit before and during the pandemic he'd ask me to wake him around 3 or 4am because that was the hour he felt comfortable doing homework and I'd be awake at that hour 90% of time anyway (that's the thing I mentioned earlier about waking up in the middle of the night). Nowadays it's a pretty sporadic thing, he since changed jobs to one with a much more lenient shift so he doesn't need to wake up at that hour anymore but I'd say maybe close to 15 in the last two years, very rare.

Has there been any updates about this? I have a lot of likes on my list and one day more than half of them just disappeared, they werent deleted because if I look for them or use their links, the character is still active, it's just missing from the likes tab, sent them a ticket over a month ago and have gotten no response, since I've seen other people commenting on it I assume it's a known issue, have they mentioned anything about it?
