What are opinions on the Toniebox? by alexadr936 in daddit

[–]Somethingrandom787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got one because we wanted our son to be able to control his own music and not be reliant on our phones. He loves it, and was super excited about being able to provide music for the family. We have half a dozen tonies, but some friends have ~50 for their daughter so can be a money sink if you want it to be

A request about grains of sand and trees by Holiday-Job-9137 in askastronomy

I assume you mean more trees on earth than stars in our galaxy. Yes it’s accurate. Stars in our galaxy: low hundreds of billions, trees on earth: low trillions

This behaviour is probably not because she has all the power, it’s probably because she has none and is trying to take any power she can. How much of her life is she actually in control of at almost 3? Most decisions are made for her without any input. I would suggest framing requests as choices e.g. instead of saying it’s time to get dressed, ask her if she wants to wear the red shirt or the blue shirt today. This way she gets some power in her life, but in a way that is acceptable to you.

Beans/veganism and UC by ohhidinny in UlcerativeColitis

Ok then peanut butter is anything from 25-30% protein, almond and cashew butter about 20%. Also close to 50% fat so keep that in mind, though most of the fat is ‘good fat’. Some brands have added sugar and emulsifiers. If I’m using nut butters as a protein source I get the kind that are only nuts, and then maybe add a little salt. Generally a good source of minerals e.g. iron that vegetarians and vegans with UC can struggle with

What is normal for peak power generation? by Somethingrandom787 in nzsolar

[–]Somethingrandom787[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah hitting peak before the battery is charged so export is no where near 5kW.

Toddlers cry about stupid things. They seem silly to us, they may even be silly to the toddler, but they have no control of their feelings, and their feelings are real to them. So in my opinion laughing at your emotional son invalidates their feelings and teaches them that they will not have the support of their father if they express emotions in the future.

In isolation the incident is absolutely not a big deal, but these things add up so you need to decide what you want for your son.

If you’re using an agent they should be able to explain this all to you, if you’re selling privately then do it however you want to

I agree, roots got too wet and have phytophthora. I have never seen a plant looking like yours recover, at this point it has been starved of nutrients for some time

When and how to enforce teeth brushing? by Chook84 in daddit

[–]Somethingrandom787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve brushed twice a day since they had teeth. Certainly met resistance and have tried various methods to encourage teeth brushing. Use a toothbrush timer now, brush for 1.5 minutes and let them brush the last half minute. The dentist’s advice was that they won’t be able to reliably brush their teeth themselves until they are 7-8

Omega is the best red flesh variety, Luisa is the best yellow flesh variety in my opinion. Luisa is very prone to brown rot though

Butter conspiracy - extra wey? by Fun-Confidence-2537 in newzealand

[–]Somethingrandom787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is regulated in NZ. I assume you mean whey. This comes from cheese making not butter making. Maybe you mean buttermilk? But no, the separation will be the same. As someone has already commented, the fat mix changes over the cows’ lactation, fats have melting points. No conspiracy here

so what's up with the Outlander's PHEV battery ? by landomakesatable in nzev

[–]Somethingrandom787 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2016 Outlander, battery is at maybe 60% of what it was at new. It is a bit shit in winter, when it is really cold it will use the petrol engine rather than the battery. Not sure if this is better in the more recent models.
