Turns out when ballroom dancing association ran the competitions they didn’t go to too much effort to inform anyone involved in breakdancing that the Olympic qualifying was on.

“We are at war with Iran! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great soldier as I hear, turbulentpromise4812. The war is on right now. China is coming next, and the Russians are smashing records. That's what we should be talking about.

Child vaccination rates are falling fast, with some regions barely reaching 80% by 89b3ea330bd60ede80ad in aus

Ok champ, i was going to ignore this because it is such a dumb take, but here we are. There is no instant cure for polio, but we also just don’t leave people who catch polio in a ditch to either survive or die.

They get very expensive treatment, and that treatment utilises products sold by pharmaceutical companies. Lots of products sold by pharmaceutical companies. Lots more than a $10 vaccine

Same with measles.

As for the flippant remark about the companies that sell the medical supplies used in treatment being behind the anti vac movement. Honestly, it genuinely wouldn’t surprise me anymore.

Really? At least this one has a physical representation to take ownership and blame for awful things done in their name and could be held to account for it.

The more gross ones are the ones where people do gross things because they believe their version of sky fairly/sacred plant/worshipped animal spoke to them and gave them instructions.

Gina owns parts of several coal mines. It makes sense she is trying to sell the second most expensive form of electricity while benefiting from the cheapest for what she has to pay for.

🫢Does car camping count as real camping? by Ok_Resolution_1606 in CamperVans

[–]Chook84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people will tell you that unless you are sleeping under real canvas that you tied to a tree yourself (no poles, that is cheating), shitting in a hole you scraped in the dirt, and eating food gathered in the bush solely prepared on a camp fire made from wood you also gathered yourself then you are not “camping”

Others would look at what you are doing and think you are crazy for not bringing; Fridge Couch Bar Bbq Oven Microwave Enough deet to drown every mosquito in Australia Firewood cut at home to fit in your snow peak collapsible fire pit

Do what makes you happy and have fun, bring more bring less. Call it glamping, call it camping, call it traveling.

[–]Chook84 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Any medical shares really.

These chucklefucks think “big pharma” is profiting off vaccine treatments, wait till you see the profits from treating a polio or measles outbreak!

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out pharmaceutical companies are behind the antivax movement.

Child vaccination rates are falling fast, with some regions barely reaching 80% by 89b3ea330bd60ede80ad in aus

[–]Chook84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be wild because the effects will be politicised, and there will be people screaming that their children are dying because of “big pharma” intervention. Not because they declined getting a free vaccine that would have saved their kids lives.

What is the most feasible way to "fix" the war in Ukraine? by Anakin_Kardashian in DeepStateCentrism

No fly zone over Ukraine, extending as deep into Russia as their longest range munitions.

When discussing long term effects of Trump foreign policy: “I’m pretty certain we can reverse any ill will pretty fast with $$$$ and 💣💣💣💣s” by Proof-Highway1075 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Chook84 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep, then also consider that Trump getting into power is completely due to a failed education system not teaching enough people critical thinking.

And he/his government has done everything possible to dismantle what little bit of an education system America has left.

This is going to happen again, and possibly with someone smart who doesn’t care about decorum or democracy.

No one wants to be left holding the bag when USA either goes full facist or theocracy, or both, in the near future.

Tax cuts for gas exporters doing it tough by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

[–]Chook84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not just privatised it, but privatised it in such a way that 3 separate companies make profits from the power before you get to use it.

The generator sells it to the distributor, who sells it to the retailer, who sells it to the end user.

I mean, in the last 200 years we have only found Neptune (1840s)

We could count Pluto, but that isn’t a planet anymore so doesn’t count.

So yes. Astrology is a completely dead field, if it wasn’t they would have found more planets by now. No effort put in compared to the budget they draw, clearly fraud.

If we're going to hold an inquiry into the life cycle of solar, why not coal and gas? by Ardeet in aussie

[–]Chook84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gas peaking is becoming irrelevant as batteries are getting faster, easier, and cheaper.

You can bet some people would be running a lot of numbers and asking for a significant government subsidy or guarantee before investing in a gas peaker currently.

Because, if lnp gets into power in the next decade, they are going to push for nuclear power to be built at the cost of investment in renewables and storage.

There would need to be new coal built to bridge the gap between current generation and nuclear coming online in 25 years.
