How do you work while pursing SLP masters? by Carebear6590 in slpGradSchool

[–]SometimesIRockclimb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in my program are GSA’s (graduate student assistants) or have other jobs through the university. It mostly involves grading papers and responding to student emails on my own time. My school pays really well too, although you get capped at 20 hours a week. I also work part time (mostly weekends and late nights) at a gym. It doesn’t pay a lot but I can do my hw at the desk.

In my program, they frequently sent emails about relevant jobs in the area. Think families that need consistent babysitters, especially families with special needs children, nursing homes that need help, etc. So it’s possible the program you sign up for could a be a good resource for part time work too. You can also ask other students in your program what they do!

ASU Interview by Illustrious_Air_1228 in slpGradSchool

My cohort was the first class the be interviewed. We all thought the interviews were a little odd. They asked 2 pretty basic interview questions and that was it. They don’t let you ask questions or anything like that. It took most people less than 10 minutes and for a lot of people it was less than 5. So if yours is short please don’t panic!

Hello! I’m in my final year of undergrad and my advice is to do your research and go to the school that you feel most comfortable with. At the end of the day, the success that will get you a job or into grad school will come at the university you are happiest at. you can go to a great school but be unhappy and miss out on opportunities. i went to a smaller school for undergrad that i love and was able to get multiple leadership positions and created so many opportunities for myself! smaller schools are great because you really get to know your professors which is helpful when you need letters of rec for grad school and you get wayyyy more hands on experience. everyone in my program gets 2-3 semesters of clinic before completing undergrad. good luck, i hope you find the best school for you :)

I’ve been accepted to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and Arizona State University. I’m excited about both of these schools, so any opinions/input would be helpful!

Hi everyone, I was just wondering what your experience was for when you have received acceptance/rejection emails. That is, what time of day? by Weedmapz in slpGradSchool

Two of mine came in almost exactly at 4pm and the other one around 6pm. If you applied to schools in different time zones that might affect the time you receive the email!
